Description/Extras: The GTHO Phase III is the holy grail of Aussie Fords with a reputation born on the racetrack and bred on the streets.
The Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III was the only car to have if you wanted to dominate on the street or the race track in 1971.
Allan Moffat knew this and took the win at Mt Panorama that year, with four GTHOs finishing in the top five.
Further proof of the GTHOs potency was out of the top ten starters, eight were GTHO Phase III.
The Phase III is the greatest Aussie muscle car of all time and this Track Red example and is one of the best GTHOs in existence today.
This car is finished in Track Red and has a known and documented chain of ownership from new, with custodians who have continually
loved, respected and cared for the car and its legacy throughout.
One of those custodians was legendary Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson who owned the car for nearly a decade, during which time
it gained the nickname ‘Big Red’, which is what the car has been known as ever since.
Following on from Thomson the car was held in a private collection by a well-known GT Falcon enthusiast who kept this car unaltered
over the course of his ownership for close to three decades, which says something of its originality as that custodian had multiple GTHOs
which were restored but he never changed Big Red as it was perfect from the start.
This GTHO is one of the best Phase IIIs that has been made available to the public since they were on the showroom floor.
A very original example right down to the seat belts, spare tyre, interior, carpets; this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to sample
greatness unaltered by restorations, callous owners and time, the driving experience is arguably better than new.
Cars this original are few and far between, and a Phase III this good coming on the market is something that will be spoken of in awe
for generations to come.
This 1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III could be the most valuable Australian muscle car ever sold.
Ant ... eat your heart out!
