actually i live in the sticks, very small village, some people have no electricity yet, and quite often i see people riding buffalos down the road/grassy lanes, no tarmac for about 60-100 km radius,Originally Posted by Neverna
it's great out here,
When you live outside the city, while insurance might exist, it's probably more of a negotiation between the parties and the police as to who's at fault and what the fine will be. The poorer person will always be at fault.Originally Posted by Barty
I think the licensing point is clear for goods trucks (as per the info in the link in post 12) but regarding the truck in the OP, the important thing for poorfalang to find out is if a 2003 Isuzu ELF NKR 2.8 MT truck is classed as a รถบรรทุก. If so, the Bor 1 licence would be required. If not, then likely not.
Yes, agreed.Originally Posted by CSFFan
No. I find it the other way. The richer will be found at fault mainly cuz he can afford to pay for the repairs.Originally Posted by CSFFan
When I had an accident I was lucky in that I had a dashcam fitted as they wanted to find in favour of the numpty I hit. Even after viewing the dashcam film they deferred a 1400 Baht fine cuz the wanker was so poor. Don't get me started about these tossers.

that is just rubbish, utter rubbish, even in thailand, you either commited a fault or you didn't. simple, and that is from someone who has had 8 accidents in 12 years in thailand. some in the city some out the city some with witnesses some without a witness. i never had to argue with the other party or the police,Originally Posted by CSFFan

anybody tried to get a license for driving a 6 wheeler?
(white plates that is, no commercial use)
Its a commercial vehicle and if licensed as one you need a commercial license to drive it legally
Only Thai nationals can apply for a commercial driving license
Foreigners can only get a license to drive a private vehicle, pickups have 2 types of licenses and license plates. one for private use which anyone can drive and one for commercial use which can only be driven legally by a Thai national
If the vehicle has plates with a white background and black letters its license for private use and you can drive it
White background with blue letters is a commercial vehicle which is licensed for private use only from what i have been told, you would need to check with the transport authorities about being able to drive it legally
