In the very last picture you can see the engine in the test frame. Suzuki Gen 2 Hayabusa.

Ah right you are, missed that.

Is it stock or are you going to mod it?

That is the question; to turbo or not to turbo...

Turbo! You know it makes sense*

*Well, maybe not, but it's not as though this whole project isn't already batshit crazy enough** so you might as well go full batshit crazy.

    **In a good way.

^As the old saying goes, Turbos are nice but I'd rather be blown .

Seriously though, a stock 'Busa engine pushes out ballpark 200hp. Unless Barty wants to start chasing Darwin Award fame, he'll easily reach his 100 mph (and then some) as-is.

Yeah I know and I wouldn't be able to help but feel a little guilty if it did go pear-shaped on him but then again on the other hand...turbo!

I seriously considered Procharger and sent them a number of e mails. Never heard back from them once. So they are off the list.

Remember those words. The build isn't over yet. There is another surprise or two to come.

I have an opportunity to buy an unfinished Hayabusa Turbo kit for a reasonable price. It is different from the bike turbo kits in that it sits the turbo above the engine, which in my application is where it needs to be. The bike kits puts the turbo in front of the engine which is where the driver’s seat is. Should I go ahead with the turbo I expect that I should be putting 300 – 350 horsepower to the wheels. To reach those power levels I will have to change the pistons and con rods, upgrade the fuel injectors and fuel pump and figure out the ECU management.

The plan at the moment is to get the standard engine in place and working. Do a number of test runs with the buggy and see what the performance is like. If I think I need more power or even if I think it can handle more power maybe I’ll look at setting up the turbocharger. If I am okay with the performance at with the standard engine, the buggy will be stripped down and prepared for powder coating and painting.

    Hnngggg, that turbo kit.

Do you need it - No you don't.

Should you do it - Yes you should.

We should have a TD bbq and beer event for this.

Can you organize it for say 8pm on a Saturday night?

Perhaps Tuesday and Wednesday then for the temple remembrance.

Organize it up in a location with some space for a bbq, drinking, and fighting.

This thing's really going to need a skirt and an aerofoil to stop it flipping.

According to a spreadsheet I use. If the Busa engine puts out 197hp your Buggy should get to about 118 mph. From an aerodynamic drag coefficient of an Ariel Nomad. (the nearest I've found yet!)

Sounds like a plan. Not sure about the 8 pm bit though, if I am doing 120 I kinda like to see where I am going.

    Gentlemen,

    Although this has little to do with the buggy build, I thought I would give you all a little preview of the next project;
