    Wrapping

I've been told that if you change the clolour ( with a U) of a car here you have to get the car paperwork changed, does anyone know if the same rules apply if you have it foiled/ wrapped? Does it count as temporary?

I decided to apply the cheap carbon looking sticker to the roof of my truck. It is black by the way and the truck is green. To my surprise I got a ticket because it is not declared on the blue book. So I ran to the transport dept. To check and well it is about how much percentage of the surface of the car is changed. So I gave the 200 baht and they added the word black to it and that was it. So my car is green and black. Simple cheap no big deal.
    Sorry about me horrible speling

Why did you run to the transport dept?

Is it too hot to drive your truck now with the black roof?

Actually there is no difference. Putting all the jokes aside. About 3 months now no difference at all. Is the surface temperature higher? I would not know. Inside cool as always been.

My car is "wrapped", I have been told various conflicting stories regarding paperwork change, so I haven't bothered, worst case scenario - couple hundred Baht !

Each one to their own. My case there is nothing to pick. The police look at the book and let me go. Same with the extra leaf springs and the modified back axle and the metal cage To carry stuff. Everything is on the book. As it should depending of whom you ask by the looks of it.

A little while ago I owned a company here in Thailand and had a fleet of pickups and SUVs. In the early days I change the vehicles to the company’s colours by painting. This would cost us between 25 – 40,000 Baht depending on the vehicle and the quality of the paint. For the last few years I changed to getting the vehicles wrapped instead of painted as it was much faster, about a day to do as opposed to weeks, and it was much cheaper. The only disadvantage to wrapping that I came across is that if the vehicle is in an accident the insurance company will pay for the painting of the damaged panels but will not cough up for the replacement wrapping. Also if the wrap is of the cheap variety and has a few years on it, it will fad and not match the new replacement wrap.

We also updated the vehicles registration book to match the wrapping colour. It just wasn’t worth the hassle not to.

I agree with Betty you should update the books with any mods.
Obviously not for the green led lights. They are not legal.
