    Looking for a pickup, options?

Since you bunch were a wealth of knowledge when I was considering what kind of car to buy a couple of years back, I have returned for advice on the purchase of a pickup.

Mostly I'm swayed towards an Isuzu Dmax X-Series Spacecab in white.

Although Ive never driven one. I have no need for offroad capabilities or 4wd.
I don't need or want a double cab, I prefer more tray.

The Triton looks alright too, Megacab.

Or how about the Ford Ranger, Opencab.

I'm not really interested in the Toyota or Chevvy options. Mazdas are just too big.

    Any advice?

P.S. If somebody buys my Harley this could be a much sooner possibility... https://teakdoor.com/classifieds-help...nightster.html (2008 Harley Davidson XL1200N Nightster)

From your choice personally I prefer the mits. Owned an L200 Animal in the UK and the triton here and always been reliable. Boils down to preference as both have good service backup.

I used to be a Toyota man (owned 3) but I must say the Ranger I bought 18 months ago is great.

The only thing that lets Ford down is their service centers. Admittedly I've only tried Pattaya and Chonburi but they both suck ginger baby cocks.

Toyota on the other hand are really good.
I would post pictures but life's too short.

No, my wife's bike is faster than my Harley. This is the reason to sell!

Both being the Isuzu and the Mitsu?

I think the DMAX I posted looks the best. Anything else would be black.

Apart from the inclination to the Dmax, you don't seem too fussed. Would it not be the best option to do a bit of research on the best local dealerships?
Although Toyota seem pretty buttoned up overall, most manufacturers only require fairly basic standards from their franchisees.
Standards vary considerably by both make and province, so go for the one with the best reputation for dealer service standards.

And just hope it's the local Isuzu dealer.

Maybe if he gave us a clue as to where in thailand he will be having his pickup serviced, some here may have a recommendation or two of service standards.

Aye D-Max, I've had for 7 years 45,000 km's Great service at 2 Dealers in same Town

if I buy the oil and Filter from them They insist to change it for free'

great economy and just a basic vehicle , have Ford back Home, never a problem just a Battery every 3-4 years expected but the Service? being charged for Injector flush on a Gas only engine! and resale value, not worth selling!

I live in Songkhla Town and we have all the dealers there.

I think I'll go and see what Isuzu has to offer when I get home and see if I can wangle a test drive.

The only pickup I've driven is my old boy's Colorado. Wasn't overly impressed to be honest.

    10 more shifts...

Dirk, I dont't think you can go too wrong with buying any major brand here in Thailand with Toyota, Isuzu, Nissan or Mitsu being the front runners. I would take a good look at the service centers first before making a final decision. I have owned Toyota pickups with no major issues. The rest is up to you since it is mostly personal preference.

For a pickup.. here are your best options:-

    1. Your body is 65% water and I'm thirsty.

    2. Does your left eye hurt? Because you've been looking right all day.

    3. Do you have a map? I'm getting lost in your eyes.

In phuket do not buy any model of ford, they are only good at doing regular services
Had a gearbox problem with a ford ranger and it took 18 months and 13 visits and 18000 klm before the dealer fixed it
Friends have a current model fiests which was caught in a flood, took 4 months for ford to get the engine parts and fix it

Sorry, Dirk, but that is horrible - it's an 18yr old's vehicle...

    Here is a proper Izuzu:

It says power steering, but doesn't drive like it has power steering...

It doesn't get much better than that! This is the FiL's truck though I paid for much of it. It is very very old, but the Thais love 'em because they go forever with minimal maintenance...

Here you go, this is what you want:
