Modified vehicles you come across in Thailand

For years I've come across many modified vehicles and regret not taking photo's. Anyway, today I decided to take some photo's. Hopefully this will be added to?

I came across this pick-up today. What it will be used for I do not know. As it stands it looks as if the modification is too heavy. I think it will be a peoples carrier.

I saw a bizarre looking Bat Mobile replica on the back of a flatbed yesterday.

No pics though unfortunately, I passed it doing about 120km/h

Normally these homemade trucks come come with a Kubota agricultural engine. This rare model comes with standard petrol engine.

These are known as E-tans and are the standard mode of farm transport in many parts of the country.

Today I come across the garage where they modify the rice trucks. They increase the load capacity by double which makes them top heavy. An accident in the making.

Here is one that tipped over earlier in the year on a relatively straight road. It just so happens to be about 500m from where it was modified.

Thats not rice thats sugar cane and in the harvest season there are hundreds of grossly overloaded truck and trailer units on the road to the mills and waiting at the mills to be unloaded. I have a photo of 13 rows of units 6 deep waiting at a mill in one of 3 full parking areas with dozens more trucks on the roads to the mill.

These that are being modified are for carting the chopped cane that is harvested by harvester. This photo shows trucks with both chopped cane and whole cane which is cut then picked up and loaded on to the units on the right of the photo.

I know it's not rice. But in the sugar season it's a sugar truck and in the rice harvest season it's a rice truck. All trucks modified according to the season and load. The top photo is of a truck being modified for next months rice harvest. You'll notice that the crashed lorry has no cab. This is because it's articulated and the cab never tipped.

I can bet on seeing at least 1 Pickup a year with a popped rear Axel bearing from over loading, this year it was a new Isusi with standard differential but the wheel was widened 15 inch with Michelin tyre.
theres some scary transport on the roads in Thailand! then there's the Buses!

A different truck to post #8. All it needs now is the rice. That should be forthcoming in the next 2 weeks.
