I came across this eye catching number this morning. The little beauty even had a tipping ram fitted. Them agricultural Kubota engines are the bees knees.

What made me laugh about this modification was that there is no passenger seat. The Kubota engine sits there.

These things, usually known as Etans are purpose built, I have seen in my travels a shop that makes and sells them.
In some parts of the country they have the 4 cylinder diesel but most are made with the Kubota.
Other places these are the preferred mode of farm transport :

You dont see many in rice farming country there one of these is far more likely to be seen powering a water pump :

Note the security system on this one, most farmers are much more trusting. Or perhaps thats the hand brake on the transmission.

    ^

I wonder how many farmers are maimed or killed from these Modified death traps.

Occupational Health and Safety would have a stroke in the West.

Over loading being a major factor in many deadly accidents here in Thailand I see pickups passing our house almost daily at rice harvest season carrying 3 times over the legal weight .

Problem with these is that in a sharp bend, the driver has to jump off to get the required turn !

Friend of mine was looking to get one a year or two back and they seemed to range about 300,000 - 500,000 for a good one.

Or two decorative alternators sticking out on top of a truck's hood?

they look to have belts on them. not uncommon for vehicles with those huge doof doof stereo's to run multiple alternators. Hanging them through the bonnet sure is different though.

^ There's one similar to that around where I live but I can never find it parked up. It has the standard red Kubota engine sticking out of the bonnet but it's not as finess as yours. I'll get a photo soon, hopefully.

I came across this beauty today. I was impressed. Made from scratch by people in BKK and shipped up to Buriram Province. I met with the farang driver as he was going to the local cop shop to see their take on him driving it.
