Can just see me chugging round Cha - am on one of these , with me feet up on the pegs, blowing Charlie of the road on his souped up Wave
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Coffin dodgers! The problem is mentally we never get past our golden age, that maybe 18 25 30 or whatever time in your life you were happiest. It is only when we look in the mirror and wonder what the hell is my dad looking back at me for? Let’s grow old disgracefully and not take life to seriously because we aren’t going to get out of it alive are we!
Most of us came out here to Thailand chasing a dream of youth, that involved a small ass and a somewhat better attitude than the women in the west. Many of us ended up with a partner half our age or younger! I myself have had mine for 13 years and are happy.

Mate of mine in his mid/late 50s owns a Kawasaki Versys and done a fair bit of riding with me on trail runs which were new to him. Prefers the black stuff but handled the rough stuff pretty well. I'm in my 40s riding like i was in my 20s off road. Probably won't fair as well if I came off. Safety is an issue, but by bike is the best way to travel.
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!
Hope for you they don't have corners in Cha'am, or twisties.Originally Posted by nigelandjan

Don't be to quick to write off the Honda Phantom. I'm 59 and have been riding my Phantom for 10 years. New I paid around 86,000 baht. So 60,000 sounds pretty high. But it is very dependable bike, with enough power to run out in front of the pack. That is where you want to ride.
Some of the old men on here, they leave the airconditioned house to get in their airconditioned SUV to take the little woman shopping at the airconditioned mall. And have never rode in their lives. But they can come on a forum and give riding advice.
Hi mate go for it
I had not ridden a bike for 20 years until I came to Thailand and I love it only it becomes addictive I have 5 now
If you are in the sticks like me I would buy the enduro Kawasaki klx 250 or the honda x rf 250
They are good on any roads and a decent one can be picked up fir as little as 80,000b
Look on baht sold or rideasia gt rider etc
There are lots of bikes fir sale in Chiang Mai there are a lot of older bikers around its great way of meeting new people as well
Good luck
