Yes. How did you know the Seppo model name? It wasn't called the Thing in the UK.

The Volkswagen Type 181 is a two-wheel drive, four-door, convertible, manufactured and marketed by Volkswagen from 1968 until 1983. Originally developed for the West German Army, the Type 181 also entered the civilian market as the Kurierwagen (“courier car”) in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom, the Thing in the United States (1973–74), the Safari in Mexico and South America, and Pescaccia in Italy

If they could make it a bit less ugly, it might be a success.

It was a trick question. It's a Toyota Cavalier. There was a small amount of rebadged Cavaliers that were actually Toyotas.

I had Vauxhall Astra GTE with the LCD speedo until it got knicked.

The good old days of the Xr3i, Xr2i, Cosworths, SRIs, GTEs, Capri 3.0.
Most got knicked or wrapped around a lamppost.

Drove one of those for a short while. Canary yellow with a matt black roof and some sort of chequered pattern on the seats. It did go well in more or less straight lines, around corners it was unpredictable and since I have never mastered the art of the reverse steer I wasn't unhappy to say goodbye to it.

This had a two tone green and blue paint job, not really reflected in the pic.
    Still, a very nice car

I had black ones in the Escort, red ones in the Ranger.

To be fair though, they are also air fresheners.

Here you go, a snip at 4 quid.
