I think the pink car is an NSU Prinz, very unusual to see one.

I've got it listed as a Dubonnet Xenia 1938. An 8 litre, inline 6 cylinder.

I thought it might be Challenger 1 but it isn't. Thank you for appreciating my humble attempt at humour.

Spot on, I had to look it up.

Actually it made me think of our very own illustrious King Willy. I think traffic in Jakarta is a little heavier though, and he does have a driver so the Autobianchi may not be the ideal choice of exec motor for him.

Wrong car (although it did actually have a Fiat 500 engine in it) but you're right about the film, it's one of the Pink Panther ones, not sure which though.

Here's a clip from Youtube showing the car in action.

For those who have not seen the film, the story so far - There has been a big fancy dress party at the local chateau, during which a huge diamond called the Pink Panther has been stolen by Sir Charles Lytton, the notorious Phantom. Happily Inspector Clouseau was attending the party and able to give chase.

No-one else going to post one? OK, here's another to hazard a guess at:

Not sure it had a name as it was I think only a concept vehicle, but which company made it?

Nice guess, but no. It's an American offering and was a concept before its time from a company not generally associated with cutting edge technology...

AMC? No wait, could it be?...

    Oh, not them either.

I found it but I cheated, interesting thing though.

Apparently the doors and windscreen are off a Mk 1 VW Scirocco, no idea where the other bits came from.

    So, to give some pointers:

It was designed in the late 70s when fuel prices were going through the roof.

It says Hybrid on the front which probably means fuel/electric. Batteries were pretty crap back then so to carry the weight it had twin wheels on the rear. Hybrid cars use small petrol motors to charge batteries.

A whole new market would open up to which company if they could get it to work properly?

The comment I made about cutting edge technology a bit earlier was a rather cryptic clue to the manufacturer. Here's a more obvious one:

I thought you said you cheated?

FFS Dill, if you're going to cheat...

No, it's not Tesla, they were only formed in 2003 I think.

Bit of Tesla trivia for you though. In March this year the Tesla model S was the best selling car in Norway. They sold 1493 of the things. The next highest seller was the VW Golf which clocked up 625 sales that month. It's not just the affluent, green-leaning happy clappy Californians tooling about in these, now the Vikings are into them too.

The Tesla Model S, a tasty looking motor I reckon:
