    Goodbye Krapasaki

Two Europe and Asia-only models will round out Honda’s practical mid-range. Both the 2014 Honda CB650F and 2014 Honda CBR650F are equipped with a new, 650 cc inline-four and sporty styling.

The CB650F is the naked that appears in the photo above. It features a brand new, 649cc in-line four cylinder engine making 87 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 46 lb.-ft. of torque at 8,000 rpm. It also features an all-new twin-spar steel frame and new aluminum swingarm. It’s rear shock is adjustable for preload, while the front 41 mm forks are non-adjustable, and it comes with ABS stock.

The CBR650F will share the same engine and frame, but will come with a full fairing and clip-ons and will also allow for rebound damping adjustment.

Looks nice. I guess the quickly realized what a fuck-up they made with the 500x, f and r and took a leaf out of Krapasaki's book on the swing-arm design and exhaust position!

But if it doesn't reach Thailand, then what?

Unlikely, seeing as it's made here and I had confirmation of the bike back in April when I met the chief designer of the 500s.

Somebody on ThaiPaedo says 330k, which is a shame as 300k would basically halt sales of Kawas 650s. Saying that, it's much more bike, so I guess it should cost more.

HP is up which is good for magazines bar-room chat and forums but torque is about the same 46 lb.-ft vs 45.5 so for everyday riding it wont be any better.

    Versys will still soldier on.

Prices released, 300k for the faired bike and 285k for the naked.

Unconfirmed from some chap at TV.

Kawa are going to have to heavily discount their Er6N & 650 Ninjas if they still want to sell any. Fair enough as they're overpriced anyway.

^ Confirmed by Honda Big Wing as their 'special' price for the motor expo from the 28th Nov -10th Dec.

I think the 'special' price bit may be about the finance interest rate not the actual bike price. Deposits starting from 28,000.

^ Yes. they'll probably let Kawa off the hook by adding 50k to the price in the New Year. Hopefully not though.

I think that's the point. It's considerably cheaper than the 600 Hornet, so in theory will sell more units. Some companies are 'clever' like that...

They could sell even more if they upped the suspension specs.
I was playing with a new cb 500 on the Phangna to phuket hwy a few weeks ago.
Made my old 93 Honda 650 look positively ancient over the bumps.
He was very hard to keep up with.
I imagine the 650 would be even better.
Its still a 10,000aud bike tho. Too much money to spend with that downspec suspension.

Have to say I am a little tempted at 285 k and love the red, white and blue with the gold rims.....was thinking of selling my current bike and going with a Ducati but with this, maybe I will keep it and have a nice hack to throw around with cheap spares if you drop it.

Much nicer than the CB 500's anyway. Good days for Thai motorcycling.
