1.29 billion is a bit pricey... Maybe they meant 129K.

Looks more sporty than the 250.

Can't imagine that there is a big increase in HP. I think they only raised it to 286cc but call it a 300.

Probably lucky to be above 28RWHP.

No doubt a good quality cheap run around, though.

129K is probably the correct price.

I already have the 250CBR and it looks exactly the same as the picture of the 300. I would think I can tweak the 250 to have more than 300, but not quite sure how to do that. Maybe a performance chip?

What say all you motorcycle aficionados? Can I tweak my 250 to at or above 300cc without having to spend a ton of money?

Honda's new CB'r' 250 couldn't compete with Kwacka's aging Ninja 250 and Brand H really got their arse handed to them when Kwacka unveiled the new Ninja 300, so makes sense they'd bore out the 250 mill and call it a "300".

Sadly the Honda is still a thumper so Team Green still has nothing to worry about. The cheapskates will buy the Honda while folks who want a nice little sportbike will go for the Ninjette.

Here are some bolt on mods I found and wonder if I can purchase them in Thailand.

Power Commander V from Jet Tuning $380
    Full Exhaust $400-600
    High Flow air filter $44-80
Professional Tune for the above. $300 ish (?)

And of course all the various weight saving mods.

There is also a "300" kit, but that is probably what Honda did to push the 250 to the 300.

I am fine with the Honda over the Kawa since I am not interested in racing. More interested in economy and some touring on a comfortable bike.

The guys who race them in Thai R2M perform all sorts of mods (engine, fueling, ecu, etc) to extract maximum power, but be aware, there are usually 2 or 3 bikes that blow engines every race. These new Hondas are a bit fragile...

Many bolt on mods do not change the longevity that much such as an exhaust and fuel chip. I do not want to tweak the engine to the breaking point and it is already at its potential max with HP from the single cylinder.

I thought that the little CBR gave the ninja 250 a good ol' decent arse whooping on tracks and roads that are nice and twisty?

If going in a straight line go for the ninja with it's higher top speed, though the higher RPMs are likely to get a bit tedious after a while of straight line cruising, if your aim is having fun on the twisties the mini CBR seems to take the ninja without breaking a sweat.

Of course I'm referring to the 250 models, only time will tell how many turns the ninja 300 is behind the cbr300 when they're on the fun part of the ride.

I doubt the CBR286 has a load of extra power over the 250.

Probably a cheap Thai pipe for 5k, a 2-3k airfilter from DNA or K&N, then a fuel controller which would probably have to be imported from the states. I don't think the Thais have ever made one for the model, not one that works or I'd trust anyway.

Probably 20k for the 3 of them. You'd probably be running close to a 7-10% performance increase which is probably all the 300, sorry 286 will offer straight out of the box.

Thanks Mikey. It looks like a new slip on exhaust, air filter and chip are in order. I have always had luck with giving any engine more breathing ability. Also, the good news is that I am already in the US and will purchase the chip here and put it in my luggage when I come over next month.

IF, I had the money just laying around, I might go to a bigger bike, but then the fuel economy would go down. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

^ You need new glasses, mate. The 250 is based (loosely) on the VFR1200 styling and the 300 on the CBR1000RRRRRRRR.

I prefer the looks of the 250 personally, but I think the suspension would take a hammering with my fat arse on it.

Well do a bit of homework on it, specifically what would go better with a Thai pipe.

Bazzaz and PC must have fuel controllers for them, some might be programmed for a specific pipe though.

Marmite, you are right and I do need new glasses. I do like the 250 styling as well, except for the ugly exhaust that can be changed.
