If you got it wrong, fine- I'm not saying there was malice on your part- but now you're trying to weasel out of it, which is lame.

As far as the 2014 goes, they're only taking orders for an as-yet-unknown color at the same price as the 2013- there's no info anywhere on the one that might come with the Ohlins unit.
Yes bro, obviously I was wrong about the ZX14R being restricted. So sorry I wasted your precious time, but thought you might want to confirm rather than end up with a dud, like all the folks who bought the restricted ZX10R from Kwacka, Thailand.

You are correct that the 2014 Ohlins ZX14R is a special edition model and no official word yet on whether or not it will be offered in Thailand nor at what price.

Red Baron buy their bikes from Jap auctions, so normally they are more heavily restricted than US spec. Although generally they know the how to de-restrict them.

    Peter,

Dyno Dom gave up, sold the dyno and... Don't know who bought it. A hasher friend used to have Dom work on his Porsche.

Maybe he was just a bit ahead of his time?

Way to 'man up' and admit you were wrong while still maintaining a 'screw you' attitude. Obviously what you have to say is so important you can't be bothered to read what anyone else has to say (or you would have known the facts months before you posted on my thread, when someone else tried to tell you them).

In any case, this further reinforces my point of treating your posts with a large dose of skepticism, and why what you have to say re: dyno tuning doesn't mean much next to what a guy I've known for years and does it for a living (successfully on the street and on the track) has to say.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

yea, Too far ahead of the game for Thailand. Dominic knew his shit, but sadly he threw his weight behind the drag racing crowd, and it turned out they were more bent than the Thai bikers, so he got sick of the bent fvckers and tossed it for good.
Another case of Thailand's entrenched corruption getting to people that are unused to dealing with it. so when people are on the hunt for a good dyno, all one can do is point them to a Dynocrap facility. Incipiently the Dyno that

Dominic had a quality bit of kit from OZ. You can import Dynocrap but they don't sell in any numbers there.

BTW- it's the US version of the ZX-10R that's restricted (something like 24hp under the Euro model) so I guess RB sells restricted bikes as well if all their bikes are sourced from the States.

I have been out of the business for 8 yrs, just got tired of the corruption and cheating, it wasn't my scene.
Redbaron probably are out of the the import from Japanese auction bus now.
My mates were in the gray market business in OZ and NZ.
But buying from the auctions in japan, one has to have connection with the Yakuza mob so they are out as well.

Maybe not up-to-date but still good with science and basic physics which doesn't change much, even if one is Steven Hawking.

Sadly with ever stricter emissions and noise regulations manufacturers are being forced to add more and more restrictions to sport bikes these days...

In Europe bikes are still only held to Euro III standard, while cars are must pass the much stricter Euro IV regulations.

Not sure what the most current info is, but last I read bikes in the EU currently must pass Euro III standards but are going to have to meet Euro IV or even Euro V by 2015.

For a Euro III compliant bike to pass Euro V the manufacturer will have to cut "overall emissions" by 50%!

I don't know what the definition is of "overall emissions", but regardless I think we can expect to see some serious negative impacts on performance to meet these new standards...

Which is completely beside the point of my post- you made a big deal of RB selling unrestricted models, and (if they source bikes from the States) they have a restricted 10R for sale right now (the same gen-4 10R sold by Kawi Thailand in 2011)- the only way to fix it is via a re-flash, which I doubt they can do in-house unless they spent about $600 on the interface, harness, and .bin files (and they'd still need to hack into a Euro model- which uses a different harness- to get the proper map).

The only alternative is to send the ECU to Don Guhl in the US and he'll do it for $400, but who wants to risk their ECU on that trip?

No no mate, you are talking about the current generation ZX10R, that Kawasaki, Thailand never sold here. They sold the previous model. Read up a bit on the ZX10R that Kwacka, Thailand sold a few years ago. It was restricted at the ECU, throttle bodies and exhaust and you could not just swap ecu's as it had a different wiring harness and the part number on the ECU was exclusive to Thailand and Malaysia.

The sorry / frustrating part about the whole debacle was that the sales staff had no idea they were selling a restricted bike.

It took a disgruntled customer putting his bike on the perfectly capable Dirt Shop dyno to get Kawasaki, Thailand to look into the matter and finally admit that yet, they were selling a severely restricted supersport.

So once again, I'm sorry I hurt your wee little feelings and wasted your precious time with my perfectly innocent query regarding the Kwacka, Thailand ZX14R.

When I got to take their US-spec demo bike for a spin, first on tour, later at Bonanza Circuit, I asked the sales manager if the model to be sold in Thailand would be "full power" or not, and at the time (well over a year ago but no idea what month), he told me he thought it would be restricted.

Obviously that is not the case which is great news! Can we move on now???

Again, you have to be a little bitch with your 'precious time' remark- that's why I have a problem with you- you can't just be a man and act decently (preferring to weasel, deflect, and evade), which is why I'm now not bothering to show you respect on this thread. The proper response to my post calling you out was, 'Shit- sorry- that was my mistake' and not, 'I didn't say that!' (when you did)- instead, now here we are- I'm one of the few people on TD who really knows what's going on with the current sportbike market and cutting-edge motorcycle modifications and someone with whom you share a common interest, and I think you're a prick (though I doubt that will keep you up nights).

And, again, you have the reading comprehension of a chimp- it's a waste of time dealing with you- don't worry- I won't make that mistake again.

Your clusterfvck thread about your ZX14R was one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. Keep it up "Mr Cutting Edge"!

Yeah- your favorite shop screwing up was one of the reasons it took so long, dumb-ass- you just keep swinging from their balls, though.

I really enjoyed your contributions on the GTR threads- you had the biggest hard-on for the 14R, you were going to make a deposit- you just had to have it...

Mine is in my garage, and I would bet it's the best set-up 2nd-gen 14R in the country- where's yours, chimp...?

Ended up buying the K1200LT instead, don't regret it one bit. My K5 is plenty fast and while the ZX14R is unbeatable in a straight line, mine can even go around corners! Seems to me you're trying to compensate for something...

Says the guy who was drooling over a 14R- look in the mirror if you're going to pull that line out of your ass.

    http://www.gt-rider.com/thailand-mot...iland-in-2013!

You posted this as well- no argument the price is a kick in the balls, but you were going to pull the trigger on one (it's a ZX-14R by the way- they stopped making the ZX-14 in 2011):

Damn, I was just about to place a deposit on a ZX14, but this tax increase will bump the price up by 20% or ~180k Baht, all so these incompetent politicians can pay for their ill conceived populist schemes.

Ah, fuck it- I like talking about bikes way more than fighting over the net.

You did indeed annoy me and cause me some grief with your 'restricted' remark (and yes, it wasted quite a bit of my time, precious or otherwise), but I'm sorry I called you a little bitch and a chimp.

Hallelujah! Peace at last! I'm not gay, but this seems somehow fitting

ps. Honest question and not meant to offend or timewaste- Why'd you install a Dynojet PCV if you hate Dynojet so much?

At the time, it was the only way to get the Brock's Street Map loaded (actually it's still the only way)- he didn't set up a map for any other system like Bazazz- the ECU tuning system wasn't developed until July for the 14R, but I've till got the PC-V in place as my ECU tune was specifically built to work with my current map (I may add a tune later that will let me eliminate the PC-V entirely, but for now I'm leaving it in place as I also run the stock map sometimes- I can switch between two maps, and I overwrote the stock low-power map as I'll never use it- and it requires the PC-V or the bike will run lean).

I don't 'hate' Dynojet, but I think there are better dynos than the 150 (which is what you usually see) and it's too easy for the operator to manipulate it to show whatever the client wants to see. I'm currently considering the DJ quick-shifter set-up, and I have no problem with most of their products.

The ECU tuning system (which is indeed 'cutting edge'- until a few months ago only a couple guys in the world outside Kawasaki had ECU access for the 14R- Woolich Racing from Australia cracked it, but only a few dozen kits are out so far- people are still sending their ECUs in to be tuned- and then locked and encrypted- by the tuners, when they could do it themselves- it's a bit intimidating at first, which I think scares people away from it- it's also not widely known) is awesome- I have access to everything, I can screw around with maps of my own design, I can try maps that others have created, I was able to delete the speed limiter and safety mode, etc.

The bike was already fast, but now the midrange is mind-blowing, and there's a more radical map I'm waiting to get a look at.

The kit was $500, and I bought a tune (and tech support) for $250 from a tuner in Canada who helped me to dial it in (though now new maps are coming out for free, but this was months ago when there was nothing else available)- bang-for-the-buck it was the best mod I've done as far as power is concerned- I did all this in my living room (computer map creation) and garage (ECU reflash) without having to deal with a shop or send someone my ECU- cool stuff. A good dyno tuner might find a couple more ponies based on elevation and other environmental factors, but it wouldn't even be worth it and I wouldn't do it- fueling is perfect from just off idle the way it sits now.

Well the cams, timing gear, airfilter and exhaust system havae been fitted. The butt dyno shows a big increase in power. I went with the PC V with the auto tune and it is generally running good.

The Victory dealer is building a new show room and workshop and they will have a new dyno in the workshop. I'll have the bike back with them at the end of the year for them to run it up on the their dyno.

I shouold also add that I also had a set of EBC brake pads fitted front and rear. Worth it as the braking is improved alot.
