    Kawasaki Z800

I've just got back from Kawasaki and I can confirm that the new Z800 is on sale at only 375,000b! Great news, I was expecting 430,000 ish. It's got 110 horses and from what I was told no ABS (which I prefer).

Now only have to find the money

That's 100K cheaper than I expected (though that price is probably before VAT- I doubt it's leaving the dealership for less than 400K or so- they pulled the same thing when they announced the price of my bike)- this is really going to kill the sale of the Kawi 650 line-up, I would guess, as the Z800 isn't that much of a step up in terms of baht- at that cost, it's a decent bike in Thailand that's actually (nearly) worth the asking price.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

^ From what I was told today I could have ordered it for 375 and that's it. I agree with you in thinking it would have cost a lot more.

I will let you know, going to pop to Real tomo and see what they say and if all goes to plan I should (financially) be able to order one by the end of the month.

It'll be nice with a pipe and an overnight bag on it to get out there on. Craps all over the Honda CB500 in looks anyway and is 300cc more, Give it a year or so and pick up a nice used one and you have a very nice all rounder.

I checked the price and had it wrong in my head, thought they were 280ish so not really comparable at 200.

I think the ABS version will be introduced 6 months ish after the z800 goes on sale. I know some people won't like the looks but to me it's beautiful. And a legal inline four that's touching 1000cc for under 400k is music to my ears. I can't wait!

    On another forum.
Posters are saying it's TB350k for a non ABS Zed & TB375k for the ABS fitted Zed.
    Excellent news if true!

Looks very nice to me, but I won't be getting one (recently saw a friend in Oman get knocked off and bounce of a car, break many parts (both legs badly); lucky to be a live and won't be walking for another 6 months. The accident was no fault of his... That';s the worry for me in some countries (i.e. Oman and Thailand).

I asked Kwaka about this and they said no. The non abs is 375.

FailSafe has my interest up, so I will be looking at this and the Honda 500X next month. Marmite, I know what your preference would be, but I want to get it right this time to keep from having to buy more bikes. It is a disease, you know.

    ^ I don't see the 2 as directly analogous...

It does look like a very nice bhike nonetheless.

BTW, anyone in Bangkok interested in this bike or any other Kawasaki and wants to test ride, the best place do so is at the new Motoaholic branch at Wong Wien Phraram 5. It's on the corner of the roundabout which has new roads in four directions where you can get a proper run. At weekends is reasonably quiet.

You're lucky Jesus, here in Chiang Mai they won't even let you sit on the bikes in the showroom, let alone take one for a ride.

Still have it narrowed down to the Z800 and 500X, but I know which one I am leaning toward. I will basically be selling my HD in the States for what it costs for a new Z800. Not a bad exchange IMO. I have ruled out Ducati.

OK, here is my next bike.......

^ Take a look at one in Bangkok before you come up to Udon as they haven't got any in the shop here.

The Motor Expo is going to be at Impact Arena from the last weekend of this month- you can go there and see and sit on everything, and there might be some show discounts.
