    Cracked windscreens and Insurance

Just got an eight inch crack in the wind screen of our 13 month old Vigo, does anyone know if it is worth getting it replaced on our insurance, or if it is better do just do it outselves, to prevent the annual rate climbing?

suspect your excess is greater than the replacement cost .

I've done that twice in the last three years. Honda CRV - rocks kicked up by mowers on the median strip of the highway from here to Manila. $800 to replace each time. Insurance paid without a whimper, both times, and I saw no significant increase in our premiums either time. At $800 a pop, I sure wasn't gonna eat it. Second time, insurance paid and wife then also got highway department to pay replacement cost as well.

It's only a Vigo. Just scrap it.

But if the premium increases it seems that you can just change your insurance company ?
