Thread: Motor Bike Sidecar

Does anyone know where I can get a proper side car for my bike. I have a new Honda Forza and I want a sidecar for my missus to sit in. Not a side cart used on a sling but a proper covered in model.

Where are you? In Udon there is a place near airport that does "proper" sidecars, not the saloongs or however someone wants to translitterate the thai word for a flimsy cage on wheels.

Big Gary you are now in luck. there is a new company in Puket that manufactures sidecars especially for scooters. Go to my-sidecar.com and you will see all of the information needed. Hope this helps.

It was a great rig when I lived out in the "sticks" but I had no use for it once I moved back into the city.



Just to clarify a couple errors in the thread. This rig passed inspection and was certified as a road-legal 3-wheel motorcycle. (Of course very few Thai coppers know that and I had to educate a bunch of them in my area and ended up attaching a copy of the certification to the back of the sidecar's seat for easy reference).


It was fine for cruising around the neighborhood and running my son to and from his nearby pre-school, but I'd never recommend such a rig for any kind of long distance travel.



If handles completely differently from a motorcycle and above ~60-70 kph it was pretty skittish and dangerous IMO.


ps. the sidecar makes a pretty good crib!

Let us know how that goes! You know already that you'll need to have the rig inspected and approved by your Land Transport Dept in order for it to be road legal, though of course hoards of locals with their home made sidecars never bother doing that.

It seems that at the minimum a sidecar in Thailand needs adequate lighting front and rear and a functioning brake on the 3rd wheel to pass inspection. Beyond that I'm not sure what else they might be looking for.

Looks like an old Stieb and not a coincidence as they had a business relationship with Steib. Cozy also make a canoe style model.
The windscreen is a bit much and I am thinking of a Brooklands style screen

Now to find a bike for it

Do you know about these guys? OZI Moto | Custom Trikes & Sidecars
I know nothing about them, but drive past their workshop often and have seen some pretty neat trikes and sidecar fabrications there.
