    The Perfect Car For Thailand

What do you concider to be the best car for sale in Thailand and why.
Eg,,,some say the Toyota's to be uninteresting, dull to drive.
other's say Mazda's have poor styling.
Keep it real, I am not asking about Lambo's or Aston's.
Your normal 4 or 5 seat family type sedan, Camry, Swift, etc.

Depends on a number of things. Are you going to be driving in a city or out in the jungle? Do you have a family? Do you need to move / carry a large load?

A little more info needed to help.

    Has to be a truck.
Modern trucks are a dream to drive and are no particular problem in the city, on the contrary the better vision you get is a boon. That and still have the flexibility to go bush or carry a ton of crap.

Unless you have some sort of need for a small car (mileage, limited parking space, etc) I agree that a pick-up is the best choice unless you need to carry groups of people (and you don't want to transport them in the bed) then a large SUV like a Fortuner or Pajero will do the job as they have 7-seat capacity- I think 4WD is necessary as well as you never know when it will come in handy.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Pick up or SUV. I've had both (presently own Pajero) but can honestly say hate driving the wife's Mazda 3 sport.

All depends on your driving style, if you are like some tossers back in the UK who get all uppity when a car cuts you up and like to bib the horn and flash your lights then best pimp your ride with some armour.

Not many like them but the Fortuner would be the best car for thailand, for its road presence, ladyboy hiding capacity and ride height when the next flood comes your way

Some of that but imo it is far overrated and far too many on the road. Just doesn't do it for me. Would rather have something better and somewhat different.

They seem to be regarded in much the same way as bmws are regarded in the uk, i.e. always driven aggressively by knobs.

The fortuner is a very good vehicle, and even after seven years production, still looks good and beats the opposition.

The new ranger looks a winner too.

Probably the best all round car fot thailand would be the land rover discovery, or if the money is a bit tight then a land rover defender or series three in decent condition and with a toyota diesel engine.

It's a Toyota, so dull and old tech, and they're generally driven by kunts.

Pickup = Mitsu Plus 4 dr. w/diesel engine
    Car/Sedan = Ford Focus w/diesel engine
I don't like petrol or gas for fuel because they rely on spark plugs, distributor, wires (for ignition) and high maintenance costs.
Diesel needs clean air and clean fuel; if it has those it runs.

If you are upcountry, pickups are the better choice as the roads are falling apart in most rural areas. Pickups can handle the bumps. if you want to keep it for a long time get a pickup but don't waste your time on and oversize beast. You'll have problems parking as Thailand's market areas, downtown roads and shopping centers all have the smallest possible spaces for parking vehicles.

IMO best for Thai conditions - Any of the new 2012-2013 pick up's with esp (stability control) Ranger, Mazda Isuzu etc. they have decent NCAP ratings now, so considering their additional weight and size will be among the safest cars on the road as long as you don't drive them like a hot hatch, they can cope much better than unit body cars and softroaders, with potholes and bad Thai road conditions due to the body on reinforced ladder frame and heavy duty suspension, and cope with some flooding and gives you a better view in city traffic.

The difference between them is negligible, go for the one where they will give you the best trade in deal or with the auxillary equipment or looks you want, like Aut, 4WD, Clima, Nav, front/rear Camera, Bluetooth phone, CD/DVD, iPod, etc. you wont care about the small differences between the brands once you have picked one that suits your needs and drive it every day.

All that plus a good service dept. The Sales dept sells folks their first Ford (or whatever), the Service dept sells all the rest.
