Biased in that I own one I would suggest the Ranger as well, shame it is made from thinner metal and does not achieve a 5 Star NCAP likes its twin that is sent to Australia.
For Thailand it has to be toyota or honda, you get the resale value on them and really easy to sell on if needs be, Bangkok, it needs to be a car, out in the sticks, some ugly old 4 wheel drive pick up, thats what you should be getting, me I bought both a car and pick up, neither was toyota or honda though, so if I don't take my own advice I don't think anyone else will.
Had a car in Bangers. Total waste of money and time. Seldom used. If you want to get away for weekend renting one is the way to go.Originally Posted by dirtydog

A Landcruiser would be the ideal car. don't think they sell them here though..
^ yeah they do,we import parts from thailand where i work.
I think it's called a Prado in ThailandOriginally Posted by Necron99
Got my chevy colorado 4x4 for the last 6 weeks now, done 3200 km with it so far, happy with it, does it all I want it to do and yes it is being used on off road terrain. Had a civic before and of course that was easier for in town, but once out of town, I had to watch the potholes and other road damage.... Pick up is the way to go out here.
Die boer het gepraat
No, Prado is a Prado.
Landcruiser is a different beast
70 series
200 series
Landcruiser probably prices itself out of contention here.
FJ cruiser might be a goer though.
Perfect comes in chilli orange too! way cool!
I've seen a few, though nice polished hi-so imports.Originally Posted by Necron99

I would not change my 17 year old Prado back home in Aus for the world.
Plenty in Laos , we use them on site but the parts are a a bitch to get for left hand drive The toyota dealers here only want to sell you the landcruiser and arent interested in keeping anything more expensive than an air filter on the shelf when requested they will order parts for you but we find it quicker to airfreight them from oz , still takes a while though especially for the older cruisers , for offroad work you cant beat em in my opinion
^ How much they go for over there?
we are looking at new ones for our department as the ones we got have done 9 hard years , got a quote from Lao thani toyota dealer, the personnell carrier is $32 300 and the trayback is $30800 This is TAX not paid , but we are having Trouble getting permission from the Lao government to buy them without the tax which can be upto 120% they seem to have forgotten that under the mining agreement all plant is exempt , but thats communism for you, we also run ford rangers and Landrovers, the rangers alright around the pits but underpowered for the mountain , The landrovers assembled in Thailand are proving to be a pain in the ass with constant factory problems and they are fucking tiny inside if you are a large farang
Nice prices!Originally Posted by Fondles

Didn't know they did Landrovers over here, wonder why they don't sell them. The old Aussie folk tales say the only reason the poms build and use landrovers, and the same reason the Aussie army used to use them, is because they are made by the Japs and some war gripes. Certainly the landcruiser has always been a superior vehicle.Originally Posted by beerlaodrinker

Landrovers are sold here in thailand but not built here. Mostly the high end stuff, dont see too many new workhorse defenders around at nearly three million baht.
