    Honda Shock Absorbers

FYI. When you take your car to be serviced and they raise it up on the hoist this action can cause your shock absorbers to sieze up. I was not aware of this. Last week I took my wife's Accord for a routine 6 month service and on the way home the car was barely driveable and the ride was extremely rough. Took it back and they said it needs new shocks. Total cost 23k baht. This happened to us about a year ago with a Honda Odyssey. Similar price 24k. A friend had the same experience with his Accord this week. He insisted Honda was liable. He met with the area manager and managed a compromise. The Honda manager admitted that Honda Thailand was aware of this problem. He stated it was a design defect that only effected certain models and years. 2000-2006. New models are not effected. CRV's are not effected. This problem only occurs when you raise the car on the new hoists (where the wheels and suspension are unsupported).

It sure is...defeats the whole purpose of having a shockabsorber. It should be able to extend to its full limit without any problem.

If you paid for replacements and there were no intervening circumstances, I would write to Honda Thailand demanding a refund with a copy to Honda Japan.

    Absolute ripoff!!!!
