Sorry folks. I've survived. Although, sadly, my business partner who collected me at LHR died the day after. So it's been a fraught couple of months. But life goes on. I've had my stents and a balloon; now working on building up cv fitness with a daily swim at local sea pool in UK.
Great to hear L&F. Sorry about your friend.
I'm off to a funeral of a good friend next week. Throat cancer...was given 3 months to live and lasted 2 weeks, the poor fucker. He lived a full life for 50 mind,
Enjoy every day
Commiserations, L&F. And that's very sad about your friend. Also traumatic for you. I lost both my best friends 4 years ago within 6 months of each other.
Have you got a heated pool anywhere nearby, for when the colder weather arrives ? What is your alternative way of gaining CV fitness ?
After initial procrastination, I received an insurance payout from my travel insurer a couple of weeks ago - circa 6 months after submitting the claim.
It underscores the importance of disclosing ALL medical history to travel insurers. I'd relied on a policy through Amex which came as a benefit with the card. It didn't occur to me to disclose that I was taking beta blockers for high BP. I had two previous claims that were dealt with really well: a diving accident in Thailand requiring a hyperbaric chamber and a back injury in Turkey requiring 10 days in hospital there.
I have now cancelled the fancy Amex card in favour of the old green one. It still has the same emergency spending power that I want, but no airport lounge access or insurance. The lack of service from AXA and poor handling by the assistance company in KL did not justify the £650 annual cost. I now pay an annual premium with full disclosure of my heart condition for nearer £350 pa (ex USA).
At least you is ok, I always figured those credit card insurance options were worth little to nothing.
