Evening Boat Cruise on Malayasian/Singaporean border

We had a wee break last week and decided to do some exploring. This included a evening sunset boat cruise along the border with Singapore. First board your boat.

They had a nice welcome and placed some nice decorations on the boat.

Your boats have a choice of two routes, our boat choose route B, under the causeway bridge that crosses into Singapore. Pre-Covid that saw 350,000 passengers crossing each day. Now, still none. No wonder the economy down here is fucked.

Some views of Putri Harbour (which has ample parking nearby) on our way out. It also has this harbour front with a few nice boats moored here.

And from then on it was mostly music, drinks, food and laughter while we watched the world go by.

There are two causeways between Singapore and Malaysia, this one is called Tuas. Currently mostly closed to regular traffic.

This is the famous Forest City, built entirely by the Chinese, with Chinese labour and all the street signs etc are dual language. But not Malaysia's national language. It was built on reclaimed land in record time, and has some sort of special economic zone status and preferential visa thing for Chinese. 750,000 appartments, shops, schools, a golf course and was going to have a train stop putting Central Singapore 10 minutes away.

But right now it's a white elephant with only 800 occupants, since the Malays and Sinaporians cancelled the high speed train between Singapore and KL. Forest City, or Forest Shitty is remote and useless. And cops wait just outside the boundary and search your car and bags for contraband (duty free drinks and stuff)

This is some sort of Bed and Breakfast & restaruant for Singaporians.

The boats all have mini grills on them. So we arranged a bit of a sunset BBQ.

I'm not sure who thought Jenga on a moving boat was a good idea. But someone did.

Hello sailor , nice to see you going with the flow, nice pix time for a boat trip for me.

Aside from Circular Quay to Manly Sydney Harbour one my favourites is the half hour Penang Ferry Georgetown Pulau Pinang, Is it still running with no through trains from Thailand and the Bride are there enough Butterworth commuters to keep it going? Perhaps the least appealing cruise buffet ( a lascar vendor had cans and crisps last time) but standing on deck in the Malacca Straits with the wind in my hair again makes me yearn for a wooden stump and a parrot.

Penang ferry is running, it serves a local market. I know quite a few local teachers commute everyday since Penang house & rental prices are too high for them to afford. As for are there enough brides? I literally have no idea what you mean.

Looks like a very nice way to spend an afternoon and happy belated birthday.

I see you are having fun uploading pics too, the secret seems to be upload no more than three at a time and leave it a bit of time between posts or i could just be making shit up in my own mind.

Maybe they are too large, as in hi-res?

    I know that's been a problem before.

    Great thread BTW

I got no idea. I managed to get a few more up, but it's a palaver.
