I just send them a fax followed by a letter to confirm

On=line can be a bit weird with nationwide; try asking them why?

they might have a limit for on-line transfers

I was going to say, I think if you're wiring 20 grand and it isn't an obvious business transaction then it could get flagged for further inspection.

Call the bank and ask them.

Had similar thoughts myself. I was told by a copper once that if you try and move more than 10k at once it flags and shuts you down..

    cheers

I do SWIFT transfers with the SMILE bank. When it's that big a figure they channel it via Kassikorn Bank. I get a phone call from them asking me to confirm a few questions and then they deposit it into my BKK bank account.

the only problem I"ve had with tranferring big amounts of cash via swift from nationwide is the time it takes for them to do it, First time one month, second time 17 days and third time 3days believe it or not, send them an e-mail from your online account stating your intentions and ask them why they have problems with transferring your money to your Thai bank account, if any.... fill the swift form in again stating you need the money by a certain date for a building project, fill your receiving banks correct address and swift code and by all intents and purposes you should have very few problems,OR fill in the swift form online, print it off, sign it and send it to NW by recorded delivery, but this takes longer...I do hope you are successful and i have been able to help you in this matter.

With SMILE bank there is no form. Just send a secure message on their website, with the details and job done.

You have to state on the online swift form the reason for such a large amount being transfered,i.e[ building project ]...the reason for this is that both nationwide and your receiving bank are guarding against money-laundering and don"t forget to tick the [ I agree to the terms and conditions box ] before you send it.ALSO include your thai tel number and standby for a call from NW verifying your swift form instructions. They can be pedantic bastards in protecting your money even from yourself..Best of luck mate............................................

Tell your bank to transfer the amount in your home-country currency. If you don't, your bank will change to baht before the transfer using their exchange rate for baht. It's nearly always poorer than the exchange rate here. If you transfer in the original currency, you'll receive the Thai exchange rate once it arrives.

You may want to check about the come back if it disappears into the ether. Check those swift numbers carefully.
