    Bhudda vs. Thailand Rats

For some reason this year we have had numerous rats around the property. So it is time to get rid of them. Bought a live trap for B88 from the local hardware store. Then I placed some bait, actually it was leftovers in the trap. Let's see what happens.

Since my wife is a Bhuddist she is not keen on killing anything other than my appetite from time to time. At first I thought of putting the entire trap in the garage freezer. Fairly humane I thought but I was out voted by the wife and daughter. When I then suggested one of the fish ponds for a forced drowning they agreed that was a better option.

Drop the trap with rat into a bucket of water for 20 minutes. That should do it, no mess or fuss.

Actually, I call them mice and got tired of trying to explain the difference. Hence the rat terminology...

You want to watch out in case the rat pisses in your pond. I think a bucket with a bit of loo cleaner might be better.

Come to find out the other Bhuddist neighbors have also been complaining about rats. But they were capturing them and then releasing the rodents near the lake by our house.

I will not be following their path. Back when I was a young lad we use to capture racoons and muskrats for their pelts. I wonder if a rat pelt is worth anything?

    The hunt is on...

Cats, although a nuisance themselves, are a very effective way of ridding the vicinity of rats.

A rat with a pelt is a chinchilla. Otherwise, if they are rice rats you just eat them.

You should introduce a few rat snakes to your property.

Put trap & rat inside plastic bag

    start car/motosai

put plastic bag over exhaust pipe (carefully, don't want to burn your hands)

    2-3 minutes, bingo.

    a former rat ....

Get a couple of wild cats from the local temple, there won't be one rat left after a week or any Geckos either

You could send them to the guy who's living on 200 baht a day. Give him some protein to go with his noodles.

Geckos are no problem whatsoever they eat moskitos. I personally would rather have a few rats you never see than flea infested cats that keep you awake half the nite pity they dont make a bigger trap for them

^Definitely. Cats kill a lot more than rats, when they do kill rats. I've seen rats walk right past cats in my neighborhood in BKK.

    Like somebody said, snakes.
