    Retirement

Enlighten me as to Whats some of you expats do in the daytime or night time for activities in Bangkok. Especially the expats that are married to thais. I know I'm gonna get ambushed on this ???

Just booze and sex, once you get invited to the orgies I'm sure you and your wife will enjoy yourselves.

Why do you question that a married expat with children would experience a different life in Thailand and compared to the life he may have in his birth country?

We have to wake up, make it to work on time, earn wages to pay the bills and spend time with our children.

Quite possibly it's hotter here but for your average family man no different and when compared to being a family man anywhere else in the world.

Now if you are single it's a far different story as it is anywhere else in the world.

When I worked hard, I worked 16 hours perday, my life was my lunch hour, which normally was lunch in some restaurant or if I didn't have time it was a takeaway from 7/11, hey, this sounds like life in a normal country, fuk me sideways, some of us live lives like people do in other countries, now thats a suprise

OK then, go down the pub or bar for a beer with your mates, play a game of golf or spend time with your wife as most retirees do in their country of birth.

Thailand, away from the whoremonger's areas is no different to other places on this planet, only a lot cheaper when it comes to cost of living

I'm sorry, but being married (faithfully) and retired sounds like a death sentence from boredom no matter where you live. I'm not married, but I work even though I do not need to just to keep my mind working.

If you spend a few years here, you can use it as a base to explore Asia.

Theres 1001 things to do in Bangkok,

Daytime- Golf, swimming, cycling, visit some temples, crocodile farm, snake farm, water parks, ocean world, , Chatuchak Market, All the big shopping malls, or jump on a train or bus or plane to anywhere cheap.

Nightime- Loads of great resataurants, eat out dirt cheap in the Thai Beer gardens, loads of family friendly bars and many others i'm sure you've heard of that will test your resolve, bowling alleys, cinemas, join a darts or pool team in your local. go watch a concert, karaeoke bars, cabaret shows.

    The list is endless

here is a typical day. easy going, relaxing, keeping out of trouble, and allows for more of same to be done the following day. might be boring but it is a simple life that I was looking for.

0700-0730 open the blinds and windows. feed the fish and walk around the garden for a look at what might need to be done.
    0730-0800 morning swim
0800-0815 prepare moringing tea and fresh cut fruit
0815-1000 computer time, e-mails, TD, read the on line news papers
    1000-1030 mid morning swim
1030-1200 read, computer time, puts around the house
1200-1430 take a scooter ride to the beach or to visit mate and possibly get a bowl of noodles somewhere.
    1430-1530 clean up the garden
    1530-1630 nap time
    1630-1700 afternoon swim
    1700-1800 computer time or read
1800-1815 SSS (shit, shower, shave) before going out to dinner
1815-2000 dinner and relaxing out at restaurant
    2000-2100 read, computer time
    2100-2200 read in bed
    2200 bed time

Agreed, all great ideas. I sometimes hop a bus and ride. Hop off in an area that interests me and walk around then hop back on the next one. I am a fisherman so that happens along various rivers.

Retirement is doing things on your terms however you definitely need some sort of purpose.

Watch the plants grow. Things grow faster here so it's more exciting than the UK.

I might buy a fish soon.

Yes, with the busiest time being between 5 and 7pm. It's called happy hour when working guys stop in their local bar for a beer or two on the way home from work as most married guys do in the west.

Along with that most married blokes I know meet up with their wives/ girlfriends when they get off work for dinner or a few drinks.

Tell us what your married mates get up to gupo?
