no extra pages allowed unlike the US passport. which sucks major balls.

my UK passport arrived quite quickly via DHL. I think I was at home though at the time.

    Mine too.

Must admit I like the new passport design with every page watermarked with a different scene. Not too keen on the biometric chip in it - what is encoded on that and how would they get the details from a postal application of your retina, etc?

*edit* ah I see - currently, it's only the photograph encoded on it.

Sounds a good safe option if embassy will still do, My present passport issued by BKK embassy a couple of years ago no problem only one actual visit (350 KLM) sent to me by Thai Post registered mail (seems to work ok for inland mail) it is a big loss they no longer issue new passports.

As for courier services if you live well outside Bangkok as I do (350 KLM Nakhon Sawan) forget it. Courier services appear to stop once outside the Bangkok area. Had two items 'couriered' by Fedex from microsoft in Malaysia both reached BKK ok (confirmed on their tracing system) once there end of story. Although paid for as door to door in Malaysia I ended up paying another 2000THB for a Thai internal courier service to deliver from Bangkok. What really annoyed me was the fact that Fedex would not consider sending the items to me via registered Thai post which would have been considerably cheaper.

Enquiries about these were completely fruitless with Thai Post who just do not seem to care,in both cases the address was both in English and Thai and both pieces of correspondence were traced as far as Thailand!

I know it is a little expensive but as it is only normally a once in ten year procedure I think I will take a holiday in UK for a couple of weeks when mine is due in 2020 (at the moment taking five days by post or same day collection at certain offices in the UK). I think it will be a lot easier all round with far less trouble and more likely to have a positive outcome without stepping over the legal or not legal situation.
Brian I had no end of problems with getting my letters/Bills etc , I was advised to open a PO box, since then I've had no hang ups at all .

    Smile Post office box

    Piwani,
I have mulled this over but nearest office with post boxes is 50KLM away in Nakhon Sawan. However had "test air mail" letter sent from UK about a month ago recorded delivery dammed expensive, UK£5:50 on top of normal postage UK£2:40, but at least it did arrive at my house. Whether this would work for a package I do not know or was I just lucky.

No longer processed in Hong Kong, now need to courier it to Liverpool.

I also think there has been a hefty price rise to go along with the change......

I sent mine to Hong Kong two weeks ago a week before the change, I'll check the costs when they appear on my credit card against the current price.
