After 6 years with an Internet shop, IT computer sales/repair shop I have finally convinced the wife to give the staff bonuses based on work. This has been an unreal upturn in business/staffs attitude and willing to learn.
We employed a new college graduate to fix computers and offered him 4K a month which he accepted keenly (in the sticks) and then sat down and laid out his commission, 15% on any fee for install, repairs, upgrades etc. And we put it on him to find the business. The wife finally (phew) understands that 15% to him still means a bigger % to us and keeps him keen.
Now the maid/shop front girl wants a slice of the action so we told her we'll give her a % of the net takings recorded on the server for the internet.
We told them to use any promotion leaflets etc they wanted for free printed in the shop and they have $ signs in their eye now.
Wish I'd done this sooner as even after a week it is showing a profit increase
Today the wife told them they will get 500B for every customer who buys a computer from us. I told her it was too much but now she is seeing the benefit of letting them do the work and paying them commission. Now we can go on holiday
