    Beer which is best

After years of Heineken and lately San Mig, tried Leo ,it seemed great taste and half the price of the others --is it too good to be true ,a friend says his doctor said it caused all sorts of problems due to bad chemicals and even suggested heavy drinkers would get cirrossis even quicker drinking it .views would be appreciated

Leo is probably the best of a bad bunch. I prefer San Mig Light if available.

I presume your friend's doctor is Thai? I wouldn't believe a single word that comes from the mouth of a Thai doctor. He's probably sponsored by Chang to say such things.

Same here - before it was Singha beer that made you blind and don't know what, now it is Leo. As Mtd said, Leo is probably the best of the local beers!

If I'm drinking at home then Leo is my beer of choice but if I'm out and about I wont drink in a bar that doesn't serve Asahi.

Mtd you need to be shot for drinking San Mig Light. It looks like piss.

It doesn't really taste of anything. That's why I drink it. Anyone who thinks lager tastes good needs their bumps feeling.

If given the choice I'd drink Guinness or a proper English beer.

Singha does not use food grade chemicals in their beer, instead going for cheaper non food grade versions.
Surprisingly Chang does use food grade chemicals.

Leo uses sexy girls in their advertising, Singha uses picturesque Thailand backdrops.

Which tastes better, a sexy girl or a rice paddy?

I'm still trying to work out why a beer would use any chemicals. What's wrong with malted barley, hops, yeast and water?

do you work in their brewery, or are you just repeating nonsense you have heard?

I have been around the Singha brewery and they do not use chemicals, except for cleaning the floors

give us a link madjbs, or admit to talking nonsense

See what I mean? Singha has export licenses to Europe and such would never been obtained with non food grade "chemicals".
Since you know more then the food importers in Europe - would you please explain what chemicals are used - and which "chemicals" are of non food grade.

No I am not talking nonsense.

All breweries use chemicals to alter the hardness and PH of their brewing water. Even small UK microbreweries. The amount they add depends on the type of beer they are trying to brew. Different levels suit different types of beer. The water already contains most of the stuff they add, they are just altering the amount. Big breweries will also add preservatives to their beer, especially so in Thailand where storage conditions are poor.

I know that Singha use poor grade chemicals as I am good friends with a person who works for the company who supplies Singha and Chang with the chemicals.

OK so now: what are the chemicals used in Beer Singha? Just telling hearsay stories or what? You can name Singha as user of "non food grade chemicals" but you can't even say what they use. How do they alter the PH value? And with what the hardness? Come out with your story, or is it another Elvis sighting???

Quite a broad reach. "All" breweries? I think not.

Nope, why do you assume it is a bad thing?

They are a vital part in producing a good beer. If the chemical levels are wrong, the beer will taste bad, simple as that.

Chemicals used to alter the hardness and PH of brewing water are:

    Calcium Carbonate
    Calcium Sulphate
    Calcium Chloride
    Magnesium Sulphate
    Sodium Bicarbonate

If you don't get the levels of each chemical right, your beer will taste like shit. Unfortunately Singha don't always use food grade chemicals.

And by the way: you're talking nonsense, the guy works either for Chang or for Singha, they (Singha and Chang) have agreements with all of their suppliers that they make up their mind and state which they do supply. Supplying both is simply a joke!
Probably your buddy doesn't succeed to sell the stuff at Singha - that is why he claims that rubbish...
