South West Chiang Mai

Afternoon all

This is the third time I have stayed in the south west of Chiang Mai this year (almost in Nong Hoi) and wondered if there is many nice places in nature to chill, walk or drink coffee).

I thought it was good to ask expats this question as might come up with interesting places.

Having a look myself, I saw a place called Ginger Farm which I might investigate!

Have you checked out Ob Khan Park yet? Nice to sit in the river canyon there and there are plenty of trails once you start looking. It seems to ebb and flow with interest and visitors.

Probably best joining one of the Chiang Mai Facebook groups, and asking the question there. There appears to be several such groups, with this particular one having a large membership: Chiang Mai - Expats & Locals Living in Chiang Mai

Whatever happened to exploring and finding out for yourself? Kids nowadays. Can't do anything by and for themselves. Must ask the internet first!!

I suggest you cycle or rent a scooter with a good helmet and wander

I used to stay nearby and n Saraphi and have relatives nearby , However where you said is South or S East of the city not S West where Hang Dong and the furniture places are interesting

It is easy to get to Doi Suthep West or Doi Saket East by pickup or local vans with lots of nature. I would avoid the main highways and ring roads unless you ride a big powerful vehicle and even then....always give way

Plan B a fun day out hop on the trains a few stops and wander, you used to be able to take a bike n the train, havent done for years so check at the station
