Could and should AI replace teachers.

I suppose it has something to do with the fact that my son is on his fifth maths teacher in the same term, and this term has not finished yet.
So correct me if I'm wrong here, but each teacher comes in to take up the reins of the current curriculum, regardless as to the levels of each individual concerned.
So in practical terms if there are those that haven't passed go, what follows will be for all intensive purposes totally academic.
What I'm saying here is, if we all run a race we will not cross the finishing line all together.
So if education could be taught through AI, at a personal pace before one progresses, then could this be a solution.

Secondly it would be interesting to know at the start of the new school year, just how many have been debriefed by their previous form teacher, as to what their academic abilities are.

A teacher should differentiate for the abilities of their class. Just because one child cannot multiply two digits by two digits it doesn't mean that they can't identify properties of 2D shapes.

In my work place students are handed over with assigned "levels" and a meeting is had between old and new teacher to discuss each individual student.

The fact that your son is on his 5th math teacher of the term suggests there is something majorly wrong at the school so all of the above probably isn't happening.
I'd like to see what morning looks like
Don't wanna drink pint after pint
I wanna wake up without feeling sick
    But I can't cuz I'm a drug-abusing alcoholic

5 teachers in a short space of time? What kind of school? International? Catering for ha sip hap ha sip kids? Or local school , is the curriculum in English or Thai? My youngest son just entered high school here in Australia and as he's on the autism spectrum. The hand over from primary school to high school was amazing , they made it super easy for him

That was my first thought as well. How many of the other teachers have changed, up2you2?

First one not necessary, the space between was a typo.

    a) Not an English teacher
    b) English is my third language
    c) It's better than most native speakers'. (a serious question - did you learn Arabic in all the years you spent in the ME? Same question for Harry)

    I rest my case, m'lud

What's the difference between someone pretending to be and someone being a teacher?

You're obviously insinuating that I am not, so what haven't I got that doesn't make me a teacher?

Sorry to get back on topic....

I have read that the last professions to be automated will be teachers and nurses. While AI is great at taking over factory jobs or accounting, professions that deal with humans are currently too complex and unpredictable for them to handle. Having said that, AI would be great at assisting self-motivated students who are otherwise bored in a large, mixed ability class. I wouldn't be surprised if a future school has live teachers taking care of average and below average students, while the best students learn as quickly as they can with AI assistants and occasional counseling with their live teachers.

Yes this was the point I was trying to make, that in a rising tide in the classroom, all boats/students don't rise at the same time.
All those that are gifted are held back by those that are not.
Secondly AI could be programmed not to advance until those that are challenged have got it.
