Pretty sure also it is today. Missus spent the morning making a Krathong.

It will be floated on a large water container in our yard this evening.

5:16pm till 7:49pm for the lunar eclipse.

5:59 to 6:49 should be the full event.

I don't know what's the more exciting event.

Loy Krathong or watching Mendy's long beans germinate

Charged up and ready to go. Should be interesting dodging lanterns, bottle rockets, hand held rocket launchers and other various aerial weaponry......

Quick flight checking night flight and Camera settings.

Looks pretty quiet right now. A few folks relaxing in the shade likely drinking Leo and Lao Khao.

Got the pier done, special places for photographs and band stage set up. I better start drinking now. Its going to be a long one. Our Golden Retriever does not do well with the various "Shelling" that will take place later. She gets spun up and it freaks my wife out.

Two of the most boring things in Thailand: Loy Krathong and Chiang Mai.

Just imagine the two of them combined...

Being honest Hal, The event itself is rather uneventful. However the surrounding activities that occur during the event are..well...fun or funny.

I can imagine that it would be fun to get things prepped with family or friends, accompanied by liquid refreshment and a bit of food, but I had to put up with just being taken to the event.

I couldn't wait to escape to the fucking pub.

Nice thing here buddy, I have a fully stocked bar and just poured me a good double and have music playing. No idea where my wife is. Again, just a day in the life here. You make your own entertainment. I mean look at Mendy. He is dressing his dog up in a Grab Delivery vest.

^ You should see what she'll be wearing during the World Cup!

You've gotta do these things or I think I'd go insane living somewhere like Korat.

But......but.... I get it. You know I laughed today. I was on a telco with a few US colleagues and said. "You know I drink and work remote". I actually enjoy making my own cocktails. It's like I am on holiday every day which is why I built my retreat like I did.

I can go farm on the back forty one day and the next pull up a hammock and drink like I am on vacation.

We spent about 2 minutes buying and loying the Kratong. 10 minutes playing with fire, and then I bought some beer and we all went home.

Post pics on Facebook. Boom. Job done.

Tbf it keeps plenty in work for a week after clearing the debris from all the rivers etc.

As for the sea launching, well that all gets into the food chain so alls good in the Kharma world.

Few more pics of the Loy Krathong festival

My wife isn't a "float a krathong" person, She prefers to light candles around the property and bless it. Most in our Mooban do the same.

    Candles light around the place.

Few pics around the festival. was actually quite civil and kids were having a blast. Not as many fireworks as I thought would happen. The band was pretty good.

Flew my drone but not to long. Too many bottle rockets and Lanterns taking flight.

Looks like a lot of fun. Here in Khon Kaen, they had a lot of events scheduled, but last year when we went, it was a zoo, and we were stuck in traffic for an hour, so this year we opted not to go and stay home.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Lots of options and prices out there BB. I have always flown DJI dating back to their very first Phantom release and now the new DJI Mini's are outstanding and easy to fly. They have many uses. I just bought the new DJI AIR 2S. I use mine to inspect my roof tiles and gutters. I also fly to check on the river during flooding to see if roads are passable. They also offer fun just flying and taking pics and are pretty crash proof.
