Anybody tried ATK test at Suvarnabhumi Airport

I need to fly to Germany next month and as far as I know, I need to provide an ATK test to fly. I see there is a possibility to do the test at the airport (Suvarnabhumi) for 550 THB. Did anybody try this? I would like to try it, but don't want to get stuck there in case it's not valid for any reason.

I am flying Scoot to UK at the end of this month and I remain unclear about exactly what I need to do before boarding and in flight. Partly because things keep changing so I was waiting until closer to departure before I tried to figure it out.

I'll be interested to know about the airport test, including how much lead time is needed to get it done. It could be cheaper to do it there, saving taxi fees around Bangkok to get it done elsewhere.

No entry requirements for COVID, unless i read your post wrong Shu

Travel to England rules
When you travel to England, you:


do not need to complete a UK passenger locator form before you travel
do not need to take any COVID-19 tests before you travel or after you arrive
do not need to quarantine when you arrive

This applies whether you are vaccinated or not.

Yep, I'm good for landing. It is the boarding I'm unclear about.

Scoot's website doesn't tell me what I need to board in Bangkok, only that I need a mask:

The issue is whether either the airport or Scoot require an ATK or PCR test within some time period before boarding. Clearly people departing from Singapore on the same flight do need a test, of some unspecified kind.

Scoot have a phone number - and a page on their website explaining why they cannot handle the call volumes.

I'll probably try to get a PCR test in Bangkok the day before I fly.

It would seem to be so simple but there was no detail when I booked and I can't find any clear information that is Bangkok-specific or even all flight generic on their website. How hard can it be?

Anyway, not wishing to derail the OP's thread, if my requirement turns out to be an ATK test has anyone done that successfuly at BKK?

Shutree, my daughter has to have two ATK tests per week to keep going to school. You can just buy them for 150 Baht or so at any pharmacy. She takes the test, gets the results a few minutes later and then takes a picture of the negative test held in front of her face and uploads it onto this app.

Why don't you just pick up a couple and if you need to have a test at BKK, then just use one? Or a I missing something?

It seems crazy but I cannot find out what I need to check in for my Scoot flight on 29th. I have emailed Scoot and their auto-reply suggests an answer to my question will not arrive before 29th, because they are so fookin busy. FFS.

I dug around in the Scoot website. It took some time and I found this, which suggests a pre departure test IS required. What kind of test? I guess I'll have to take time and spend money on a PCR test in Bangkok.

Because a self test may not be valid.

You need to take it at a certified facility that gives you a certificate, I guess to prevent faking of results if taken personally
The certificate was required when we checked in at the airline, even though the airline did not require a test to fly. I guess it must be required that they do so from the goverment of the country that they fly to. because when we arrived in Greece no one asked to see if we had it, I guess it was already in their system from when it was input at the airline check in. .

If you decide on a PCR test I have taken them at both the Bangkok Hospital on New Petchburi Road and at Bumrungrad. Mine had to be taken within 24 hours of departure so a 7 to 8am test was fine for a night flight. In both cases the results came through mid afternoon.

At the end of the day I think it is safer to do this if you're not sure, just in case. In fact the second time I took one it wasn't actually needed for check-in - only proof of vaccination. But anyway, I went down a day early for the early morning test and got a night in Bangkok out of it, so I wasn't too bothered.

That is the way out of the confusion although I really cannot understand why the details should be hard to find. I expected them to be set out on my booking confirmation, but nothing at all. Then it is two taxi journeys to the hospital plus the test fee. Money I'd rather spend on other things. It will be a couple of quiet nights in the hotel now.

If you stay on Soi 4 you can walk to Bumrungrad.

I flew to Bergen from BKK back in February with KLM and could also find no definitive answer as to whether I needed a PCR test or not, so decided to get one anyway rather than risk not being allowed to board and thus losing six weeks work. As it happened all I needed to show were two vaccine certificates but I wouldn't have enjoyed turning up at the airport with no test result certificate, with that lingering doubt in the back of my mind.

Yes they do, and it was sufficient for the airline and arriving country.

We had the same issue, Trying to time the PCR test so that we would have the report back in time and remain within the 72 hr window. The ATK test if I remember correctly was only 500 bht each . It is good only for 24 hrs but if you do it at the airport a couple of hours before you leave, unless your trip is over 18 hrs you are good to go, and you can save a bunch of money.
