Seeking info on flight exemptions out of Australia

Hey TD community. It's been a very long time since I posted anything here. Just seeking info from anyone who's had luck flying out of Australia during this time. I lived in Thailand from 2005 to 2019. Since moving back to Aus for family reasons I've decided that I'd really like to move back & continue my life in Thailand. Currently Aus Border Force require a flight exemption to fly out of Aus. Initially there was a waver under Not Usually a Resident which allowed outbound flights for Australians whom have lived overseas for a long period of time. Unfortunately my application based on this was denied due to being in Aus for over 2 years. Now I'm looking at reapplying under grounds of employment in Thailand. This will require a Commonwealth statutory declaration + letter of job offer, employment contract, flight itinerary, a lease, bank statement & proof of personal items being shipped. So it would seem that Australia is back to being a penal colony again, not to mention a full blown police state.

If anyone on TD has managed to fly out of Aus during this time, please let me know =)))

why not just wait another 3 months ? likely by the end of december both Aust and Thai will have minimal quarantine requirements - I do not expect to fly out of the country as a tourist until probably the end of march as I do not want to have to do quarantines multiple times

my next return to australia is in november and I am hoping the hotel quarantine will have changed to home quarantine for 7 days for fully vaccinated people

my TERs are based on work , but the company does all the paperwork

Yeah my big boss (Melbourne based) is here now, he did the Phuket sandbox.

No issues at all, he got "employment" exception to fly out.

    As other said,
Wait three months. If Covid things continue to improve travel restrictions will be removed or reduced. If things dont get better , you don't want to be here anyway.

Watching the news lately I must prefer to be here in Thailand than back home in Aus, police are shooting the public with rubber bullets FFS.

To be honest, I really don't want to linger here in Aus for much longer. Waiting it out another 3 months here just seems uncertain as we all know things may not go to plan. The country is pretty much split down the line. Just feels like a powederkeg to me at this point. Not unlike the Thailand so many of us here are acquainted with over so many years after experiencing 2 coup d'états for myself, plus the 2010 Thai military crackdown, the เมษาโหด period in particular when they shut Facebook down and implemented curfews & live firing zones. What a bloodbath. i'll never forget that night when i ducked out to try to get a few bottles of Chang from the local ma n pa at Sammakon Village when I witnessed snakes out on the streets everywhere crossing the roads in the village enjoying the lack of human activity.

i may be able to get rehired by a company that employed me for over 10 years in Thailand. I left on good terms with them and have a great track record. So fingers crossed that can be my way back "home"..

How has Thailand been for you guys over this period? I often wonder if I'd be much better off there as in the proverbial 'better the devil you know'

Also my plan. Not planning on going anywhere until late March.
NZ govt travel has promised a travel pass app by December for vaccinated pers, and announced the possibility of at home quarantine next year. Given the history of govt funded ICT projects I have little faith they will actually get a workable app out on time or budget, but I live in hope.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

    Same here in Khon Kaen.
If it wasn't for the face masks and that no beer served (how stupid is that) in restaurants, I would not know there was a pandemic. Morning Market is teaming with people, Night markets are open, we go to restaurants every weekend. Drove to Nong Khai a couple weeks, it was a bit slow but not bad. Businesses seem to be hurting .
We don't go to bars and or Night clubs so I would not know about that.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Now that sounds so much better in terms of mental health & community. I haven't met a friend or family member in almost a month now. I know it's far from perfect in the LOS but there's a reason why I stayed in Thailand for over 14 years. A close knit of friends, never a dull moment & being literally an hour or so away from another country, language & culture is an aspect of life I really miss there. But I'm speaking in terms of pre-covid times of course. Some of my Thai friends are telling me to stay where I am due to covid & political instability. The latter being par for the course in the land of wais & khwais

Melbourne? You’re just not trying then. Plenty of people exercising outdoors or bumping into others at the supermarket
