    Expat Food delivery service

Mooching around on the net and came across this site:

ExpatFoodPattaya.com – Groceries delivered to your door in Pattaya

Mostly brit groceries (some Russian apparently), but also looks like decent meats and cheeses as well as prepared meals.

Delivery service, and they seem to have the Siambury stuff that I have heard people rave about.

Nationwide delivery but excludes Udon Thani, Hua Hin, and Ban Chang.

Tempted to give them a go. My only minor niggles at this point is that they do not seem to have an on line credit card payment system, so that means extra faffing about. In addition it seems they have to work out the delivery cost, so you order, wait for them to work out delivery then go do a bank (ATM) transfer (I do not do online banking apps etc).

If they had it a bit smoother with a credit card payment would probably have already placed an order....

    anyway - anyone used them?

^ I see they need to update their interweb link thingy, as the service is now essentially nationwide, not just pattaya...

Gotta create a log in just to find out prices.

    Seems the wrong way around.

Agree. Not sure what they gain from that to be honest.

That is a good place, thanks. Just seen Haywards pickled onions........

I do not normally pine for things British, just feeling it has been a long, long lockdown, and a treat or two might be on the cards....

A mate asked me the other day if I was needing anything as he's putting in an order.

    2 X smoked kippers
    2 X smoked haddock 400g
3 X Robinsons Squashd (any 3 different flavors)
    2 X Angel Delight Butterscotch
    3 X onion bhaji- Mughal
2 X beef and smoked bacon pate
2 X cheddar jalapeño pork sausages.

    Seems like a good start.

I think it's the delivery service of Siamburi's. Great shop, I go there about once a fortnight even though 4 shops copying their business model have opened within the last few months that are all much closer to home.

So, placed a small order through Lazada (as suggested by armstrong) and another through BritShop (as suggested by dirk D).

Will see how it goes. Both credit card payment systems, which won out over the one I first saw....

I order regularly from both Food Variety (Lazada) and Expat foods (Siamburi's).

Food variety sells the exact same stuff (With a much smaller selection) than Expat food for around a 10-15% mark up.

FV has been great. Everything well packaged and in one piece. Just pay COD when it arrives

Expat Foods is a step above. More selection, great array of cheese, frozen foods and snacks from home. They deliver every Wednesday to your door in Bangkok for a flat 300 baht fee. Pay by bank transfer

Both great stores in my opinion.

Just keep your eyes open on the specials because of the sell-by dates. Not a problem in Bogon Mansions as most stuff is quickly gobbled up or frozen.

    ...Quick plug if I may?

Lil Aye's (Loy Toy's missus) pork spring rolls are the nuts. Get a pack of 6 for around 79 baht(ish) and a tub of sweet and sour sauce for 40 baht and lunch is sorted.

    --EDIT--

Forgot to mention about final cost for expat foods. After you put your order in, they have to price up the goods that are sold by weight (cheese and meats), and they also double check that everything you have ordered is in stock. This process only takes a couple of hours and all communication is through email with your final invoice coming through as a detailed PDF.

So is Food Variety 10-15% more than Expat Foods for the same stuff?

^ Yep, but 300 delivery from EP compared to FV, where it is 100 baht or less depending on how much you order and Lazada promotions.

I cannot confirm that on every single product though (the % markup).

I will have a quick look and compare 5 random purchases I made this week from EF against FV

    ...back soon.

My findings (Food Variety Vs Expat Foods)

    1 - Heinz Veggie Soup - 47.04 / 39
    2 - Cadbury Animal with Freddo (7 pack) - 99 / 99
    3 - Robinsons Summer Fruits 1L 95.04 / 80
    4 - Typhoo Teabags 129 / 99
    5 - Branston Baked Beans 52.80 / 39 (I think, threw away the receipt. Max 45 baht)

Some of the pricing is funny because Lazada is doing a payday sale. I am not saying that every single product is more expensive on FV. There are some things that may be slightly cheaper.

I must also point out that FV do sell some (not many) products that are not found in EF

Food For Foreigners - Food delivery - Phuket - Order online

Being local I usually just drop by, however they are well organised and doubt that there would be a problem with their advertised nation wide delivery.

Based on this thread I tried Expat Foods
I set up an account in order that I might be able to see the prices - easily done although i would have preferred to be able to view prices without having to set up an account.
'Shopping' online was very straightforward with everything sorted by easy to understand categories - no doubt just as easy anywhere else.
Once I entered my order they made it very clear that they couldn't give me a final price until they had checked everything (see post from Bogon above)
Receipt of order confirmed earlier in the am, final cost and invoice received at the end of the same day.
Order amended to reflect 1 out of stock item.
Delivery to Isaan 180 baht. Choice of 2 banks to make payment.
    Payment made next day.
Payment slip sent later that day to Expat Foods
Tracking number sent at the end of the following day.
    Now await delivery

Sorry I forgot to add I kept the order simple - no frozen or chilled items or variable weight, which would increase the delivery cost.
I will try that next time
    So far so good

Due to "contractual agreements" according to their website

Too much messing around for me (personally). Although this was the site I originally was asking about, it was the only one I did not place an order with. It is a shame, as they did have some interesting stuff, but personally more comfortable with credit card payment and then it is done.

I placed a dry/tins/bottles order with lazada and a frozen food one with britshop.

Also place orders regularly with paleo robbie. Again, frozen goods, but no faffing about.

Order placed late Wednesday with Expat Foods arrived earlier today via Kerry Express.
Every item individually wrapped in bubble wrap plus extra to fill the box.
Delivery charge 180 baht to Isaan.
    Happy with the service.
I will now tuck in to my Twiglets that I have not eaten in years.

I do agree with Nidhogg that it is a matter of personal preference which company to use.
I was happy with the choice and price offered by Expat Foods.
I would have preferred not to have had to open an account in order to see the prices of goods offered
I am also not too happy handing out my credit card number to all and sundry.
Paying via bank transfer was not a problem for me as my wife takes care of all that when out and about in town.
I prefer c.o.d., but this wasn't offered as a choice.

I would use them again, although my orders would be few and far between
