    Bangkok seafood vendor caught cheating

    Bangkok seafood vendor caught cheating

A Facebook user posted a video revealing the trick of a seafood vendor in Bangkok’s Tor Kor market who hid nails inside prawns to make them heavier, so he could charge more.

Rawiporn Imarrom said she had bought seven king prawns for Bt1,900 and found nails in four of them. She said she had posted the video to warn shoppers, because the market is known for its seafood and she did not expect such behaviour. After the clip went viral and netizens attacked the shop for cheating its clients, the market’s administration had the shop owner return Bt1,900 to Rawiporn and apologise.

Poor guy, never expected anyone might notice nails in their prawns.

The markets administration didn't put the nail in the sellers coffin like they ought to.

What if someone had died as a result?

People would be abhorred whatever the country. The trader has put the whole market under the microscope.

Reputation takes years to establish but can be lost in an instant.

Close the vendor's market stall today and place a large sign in it's place, "Cheater have no place in this market".

The new magnet stall will be busy.

Can't find the original story, but there was a few Thai shrimp sellers got caught using lead-shot inserted into the heads of their stock to increase weight, a few years ago.

The Chinese (bless 'em) use gel or gelatin to do the same thing. Gel-injected shrimp a growing problem in China

Yes, scales, padding, injecting various liquids into meat to increase its weight, and many other retail thievery go by mostly unnoticed, but something like nails in prawns seems a bit ambitious, or desperate.

Red dye into watermelons. The gas station pump balanced as not to reset to zero. The fokers don't miss a beat.

Though selling prawns that still have the nails inside them, is bit more on the simplistic scale of things.

Watched a docu on how butcher and supermarket meat sections paint meat that's going off with blood to make it look healthy; another was to mix meat that could no longer be sold even by painting, with good meats for the mincer. This was a UK docu, but no doubt the same tricks are played elsewhere.
