Sorry double post.
Your post got me to thinking about farangs in Lampang. I jotted down a list of over 50 who I know by name and I am sure there are more I have forgotten. These are just ones I know around town and there must be heaps more, particularly teachers, who live in other amphurs.
The two Lampang Expats facebook groups have around 700 members but a lot of them are probably non-farang/ non-resident and duplicates. The large group of engineers who were in town for the building of the new power station have mostly left now it is completed.
I'm guessing about 500 for the complete province?
That many.? When I was doing my 90 day check ins, I'd maybe see a westerner every other visit. Most at immigration appear to be Cambodian and Burmese and most look like laborers of some sort.
I have seen a few at Central Plaza mall in town when I happen to visit there. I was told by nice Aus guy who started up a convo with me that they have certain days where a group of local expat westerners get together at the canteen restaurant area for lunch.
Thanks for the info.
In the 16 years I've lived here, no police visits. I figured that during the "troubles", especially after Yingluck did a runner, I would be checked regularly.
I must say Fatty, you have really put your time in.
Well done.
Thats a fair chunk of time.
There were 3 farangs in my area but on the main road 2 are now dead, so sad to bad. As said before I am, army, border troop area, Thai police 7 KM from me,
they won't come out here in uniform.
Last farang in the area, sometimes drive the kids to school, Buntharik, one army, police check point, 2248 highway, new cops or soldiers may check my licence, once a year maybe.
They have my details and I'm the only bastard out here, no reason to come check.
