I'm hearing ya. I never officially made any application. In Perth I seen Medicare office which at the time I didn't realise was also the ATO and My Gov office all in one so I went in and asked the "helper" that was at the entrance she told me all the information above and gave me the pamphlets with all the bullshit in them.
I thought at the time if I was going to be in Perth for longer I think I could put together enough stuff to get me through the maze but as I was only there for a short time I just let in go.

If I go back for a longer stay and now armed with what I learned then and what you have said here I am sure I would eventually get a card.

I won't be going anywhere near Centrelink at this stage (I will if I ever move back permanently to get a AOP) but thanks for the additional information.

Just remembered , might be relevant or not.

They all knew I was fresh off the boat from living and working in Thailand for 12 years but I also showed them my Redundancy letter and my expired visa/extension and work permit, That "may" have helped with getting back on medicare and the dole quickly.

I was non resident when I landed on the 1st, My car licence and Aus bank account both being at the same address along with birth certificate and passport was enough to for centrelink and I was on their doorstep 9am on the 2nd... with all that in hand I then went to medicare (luckily same building as centrelink) and they confirm I was eligible but easiest to phone them... I called them when I got home.

I did have a my gov account as I set that up when at centrelink.





All in all it was very straight forward to get my medicare card and onto the dole.... had to wait 4 weeks before 1st payment though.

The question is, would a Bogan still receive free Medical treatment if he zero ties back in Australia and had been out for many years. ?

The answer is No because one must return to Boganland and live back there for a period of time before he or she can qualify for the Medicare card, the dole and other related free shit us Bogans receive.

Same goes for Pomland. Pom living in Mongerville got throat cancer last year and spent 2 million baht receiving treatment . He made a video blog saying he would receive zero free treatment in Pomgolia because he had been out way to long and had fuk all there.

I almost agree with your statement but in my opinion it is not enough now to simply have links but you have to show evidence of physically residing in Australia.
This is what Fondles did, not that he showed he had been resident, but he did provide enough proof to show his intent was to physically reside in Australia in the immediate future, hence he got his Medicare card.

He could have gone back to the UK and got free treatment on the NHS. He chose to have it done in a private hospital in Pattaya so he could still get his balls licked and have his You Tube following pay for it.

I have a friend who left the UK for more than a decade who went back with jaundice and a fucked liver who paid nothing for treatment.

That is not exactly true you can send a photo to them but you will need to go through a rather detailed process in order for them to accept it.
When i was working in Indonesia I used to renew my WA licence via mail all the time. Because I had a heavy duty truck licence and type 2 diabetes I had to have a medical check every year so the Doctor on site in Indonesia and I got quite good at filling in the papaerwork required. I think I did actually send in a picture once but can't remember exactly.
Anyway in the end I gave up the heavy duty licence and that allowed me to go 3 years between medicals.
So from then on I have made a point of going in to the Department of Transport whenever I 'm in Perth and updating my mugshot.

So as Fondles says you can renew a licence by mail but it can be a headf**k to do sometimes.

I moved out here in 2006 and renewed in 2008 here in Thailand (for 5 years) then again in 2013 here in Thailand (for 5 years) Renewal last year was in Aus and new photo was needed.
