We set off about 2:30 to explore the 'Green lungs' of Bangkok. Otherwise known as Bang Krachao.
Google describes it as a "a preserved area with no high buildings and a bit of nature just outside the bustle of the city. It is very pleasant and relaxing to stroll on a bicycle on the small concrete paths going through the trees and bamboos".
The boat over was 4bht each. and took about 10minutes. Although there turns out to be different ferries you can take. This one was filled with motorbikes and a few people on foot.
We weren't planning on cycling but when we got there it looked a lot bigger than we imagined. They had electric scooters for rent which I was quite keen on but the wife decided we needed shitty bikes for 50bht each... 100bht later with the kid balancing in a kid seat on the back we set off with The Worlds Worst Map.
The bikes were shit. So very shit. The kid seat had no buckle and one of my breaks didn't work. My seat was hard and my feet hit the baby sit behind every time I pedaled like a normal human being. There was some nicer looking bikes for rent a bit away from the pier but I'd love to do it with my own decent bike.
I was very, very wobbly. There's a kid sat behind me terrified.
After roughly 1.5km of biking we decided it was time for a break at a place called Hiddenwoods. A beautiful sanctuary away from the hell that is shitty rental bikes.
and actually on a ferry route so next time we don't have to fucking cycle anywhere.
After refueling in our own special ways we set off back for the short ride to the ferry
An awesome afternoon outside. Next time I'd be pickier about the bikes we rented or just take the ferry that takes us straight to the cafe.
With some decent tunes and a good bike it'd be a great solo adventure.
