    Experiences with asset seizure?

The Supreme Court ordered my opponent to pay me compensation, together with a jail term. My lawyer has already submitted the necessary documentation to the relevant government agency (in Bangkok in my case), and the link to the auction website to check when the property comes up for auction, but despite repeated attempts at getting any information out of him as to the process, sod all else.

My question is, has anyone here had any dealings with asset seized government property auctions? Timeline? Thank you.

Check out (and you'll love the name) Thai Legal Execution Department website.
Apparently the properties can be on there for quite a while. Firstly they need 3 independant valuations and when you have a look, it's a really strange coincidence that very often the valuations are exactly the same, down to the last baht (huge room for corruption in these valuations), then when they go to auction, family of the ex-property owner can protest and legal stuff has to be followed.

That's the site I was given a link to. The property has already been valued - with a 20% (handling) fee. Agree the listings look convoluted - 1st 'can sell, 2nd (another date a few weeks later) - can sell etc. No chance of defendant's family objecting and very much doubt defendant will as she was the one referring the case to the Supreme Court after it having been adjudicated against her at the local Appeal Court, and then the SC upped the compensation after reviewing the grisly details, haha. From the photos my lawyer took of the property it appears her family has abandoned the house anyway.

Okay, it was submitted middle of February so three months and it's still not even appearing on the listings not so long I guess. Looking at around a year then ..

Why don't you take over the property and put it on the market. Might be quicker way to get your money.
    What's the story, anyway?

sounds like a typical bargirl story where farang buys her a house and she tells him to fuck off and have her new boyfriend and her family moved in

if the house is interesting, it will be sold before it hits that website, maybe someone is already on the deal

it's going to take forever for the court to pay you back,

Haha Thanks for that Switch Beeatch in question wife (now ex?) of an Englishman who flew the coup when Nemisis came back from the dead. Beeatch refused to leave house to accompany him on his bribed to ignore blacklisted flight out and so I will now be the beneficiary.

I'd toyed with the idea of putting a link up some place to sell it, but that would involve bypassing legislature, and lawyer unforthcoming as to detail anyway (as most are), so must simply bide my time. Used to it by now. This case started in 2010 ..

I think this type of headache supports the mantra "Do not invest anymore here then you are willing to walk away from". The OP said this started back in 2010. 9 Years in the making. Painful indeed.

    Best of luck OP.

And yet the supposition I, the OP was some 'chav' tucked up by a bargirl persists.

To put an end to any further speculation, the bastards in question were acquaintances who'd attempted to sell my property whilst I was in ICU. They'd broken in ostensibly 'to care for your dogs' and proceeded to put my gaff up on every shady property for sale website in the area. I had been alerted to this by a neighbour via email some weeks after my having not been seen around for a while. There was no way in hell I was going to allow these evil cunts off without a fight. They'd paid off the police, the prosecutor and when that didn't work, the provincial judge. I took it all the way up the food chain and won. So now have their house, plus how many tens of thousands out of pocket wasted bribery for them

That 'never walk away blah blah' therefore didn't apply in my case. I'm not some sad sod buying his tart du nuit a crib and a motor after a night's grunting. I would also say that having both rented and owned owning is by far the better way to go. No bloody landlord telling you what you can do with your home nor turfing you out at the whiff of a better offer. Plus, no bloody rent.

Don't roll over for these fuckers is my advice. Right is might. La gon.

Damned good advice. You have won the judgement but as in many countries collecting is a whole other thing.

    Good luck with it.

that story sounds dodgy on so many levels, what province did that happen? Phuket maybe you have a point,

and how did you own the house? with the same dodgy proxy deal that Thailand is trying to crack down?

so you didn't own an house, like a typical chav that got done by a bargirl, you got done by a laywer or property broker. They tried to use that against you. Can you blame them? were you stupid to trust anyone in Thailand to put complete strangers names on a proxy company to own a house? indeed you got lucky to get it all back, they could have killed you for it if they could buy judges, land office officials etc..

and the last trick question: ICU? drug overdose or bar fight gone wrong?

What happened to your house? If it was sold illegally, why didn't the judge simply order it back to you and the "seller" to recompense the unfortunate buyer?

he didn't own the house, it was the dodgy 30yr contract, with Thai nominees owning 51% of the vote

so legally they could do it, but the financing part is where he probably got the legal arguments against the Thai if he was paying 100% of the house

basically he was trying to own land illegally, and the sale was voided!!!
