    Looking for a fishing partner

Left the states to build a house here for my wife and daughter. Always an active hunter and fisherman. I know I'll have to fly back once a year to hunt, and maybe fish, but would like to find places here to catch some good fish. Went to a pay and fish in Phuket on our honeymoon and the wife and I caught around 20 Cats and big carp. Fun, but now I'd like to find places close to here in Sisaket province or Ubon. I heard Sirindhorn Reservoir has some big fish, seeing it's either illegal to net or just too big. I'm sure there are some avid fishermen here close to me that miss fishing too from their countries. No bass, salmon or trout here but predator cats, arapaima, pacu, snakeheads and the like sound ok by me. Anywhere in Sisaket, Ubon,Surin or other close by provinces would be ok. I'd love to saltwater fish also, but that's a drive. Let me know either here or by PM

Sorry, I'm too far away. Would have loved to as fishing is a huge attraction for me

I think, though not sure, that there are wild barramundi. Now there's a fish that will give you a run for your money, and are great eating too.

I'll take anything that will pull on the line now. I wish the beach was closer but that'll have to be an occasional thing. Just want to get established .I'll drive for good fishing. The Mekong's not too far away either but without a boat it would be hit or miss.

Oh boy, I know that feeling very well. I've forgotten what a bite feels like.

I'll make it to you eventually.
    Best case May/June, worst August.

Meanwhile I'll quiz my BiL about potential spots in Sisaket/Ubon and see what he comes up with...

That's all I got, for now.

Hey Fred, you might be interested in reading my fishing thread. I must add to it. I've been lax and not bothered, but I have plenty more stories.

Read quite a few. You're a fisherman like me. Living here would kill me if I didn't get to be "myself", fishing wise. I can fly to the states to hunt on daughter's property, fish bluefish and bass, pickerel with my nephew in New Jersey, trout with my friend in Colorado, but now that this is home, I need to catch something. Lot of predator cats here, along with others, but close to here most places are netted(no conservation whatsoever) Like I said, once I'm established and the house is done, I want to find places that are worthwhile. I don't mind pay and fish, and I've always let 95% of fish go anyway, but I'm sure there are secret places where you can catch and release. I looked up that Ampon Fishing and sent him a message.. A dream of mine is catching a good marlin, but out of my price league, unless I do it like The Old Man and the Sea lol

Hey FW. Too bad we are far apart. I've been doing quite a bit of fishing on the Wang river. It's been OK but as they say anyday fishing is a good day. I do miss my fly fishing days. Not gonna happen here.

Maybe this is one of those set up a fishing trip get together at a lake each year. I know quite a few and we can rent a long boat for the day.

    Lots of options.

Btw, I can't do fishing parks. Seems really weird to me.

Sounds good. That's why I'm here. Living here doesn'
t have to be boring. You can't leave everything behind and be who you are. I don't mind fishing parks. It's like a treat where you catch big fish without really trying hard lol But I do enjoy working for the big fish.A challenge. Chang Mai and -or Rai was on my agenda someday too.

Agreed. Any fishing is good. We can do a Kaeng Krachan lake for snakehead. I have had some good fun out there.

Up North Lampang has a secluded lake and fishing has been good but you have to have a boat.

    Pm me anytime

You are too far away from me for a fishing trip and I'm not sure if you'd like my type of fishing. There are a few occasions when we go lake fishing, where I use hair rigs, usually with corn as bait. However, the wife and tribe prefer lure fishing with either live or popping frogs. Usually snake head of <1Kg in shallow streams/small rivers and I like it because I can take the dog for an early walk and bring back something for breakfast.

I would like to try some small soft plastic lures but don't see them in Thailand and forgot to get them in the UK when I was there the other week. I'll have another look in Munich or it'll be live kiat again...
