Indeed and over time you end up preferring the substitute over the original.

Ubon is nearby, take a look at Tops in Central, they may have some of the items you're looking for

Would love to try that sausage. I go to using turkey sausage for a little less fat lasagna, but I grew up with Italian relatives and godfather (yep), who's mom was a killer cook, best sauce I've still ever had. I know real sausage blows away the turkey kind and at my age,it wouldn't matter once in awhile anyway. Can you buy real sausage anywhere? Never heard of Tops,I'll check it out soon.Ubon's only 90 mins away

Well, maybe if your 'original' was wrong in the first place...

Get one of these. Get preserved sausage linings and start making your own. You will not regret it, and if you have time to get a smoker going, you will become a very popular person when you are hoarding strings and strings of great gear.

Foodland has gone down hill in the last few years. Many of the things I used to depend on them for they no longer carry. Villa is a better source now. It also depends on time of year. During the holiday season Villa, Foodland and Tops boost their assortments. Also, the bigger the branch and proximity to where farangs live the better the assortments.

The Tops in Surin is abolute shit. They have noticibly stripped down their assortments since the time they opened several years ago. It all depends on if their are enough farangs to support the business.

In that case, the much preferred and veritable Isaan sausages are quite available at the local markets.

Astounding how many accept their limitations as to where to secure anything.

It would be better if all the Americans buggered off back to America and they could feed their faces as much as they wanted.

It was only a week ago I made biscuits and gravy for a Alabaman bloke that lives near me. I reckon you will struggle in Thailand unless who ever is making it has a good sausage meat supplier.

Big black bastard with arms like popeye. How do you think it went? I was mopping up sausage gravy from my chops for hours.

A sprinkling of Gruyere and some bacon on the side made it special.

Went to that expack site and didn't see anything that caught my fancy. I guess I have no allegiance to packaged food.

Only applies if the gravy is of a decent savoury sausage variety...en lieu of the lifeless floury white gravy that attempts to pass for the other.
    Otherwise, it's all moot.
