    Car by CC?

I've got a Chase Sapphire (US) CC burning a hole in my pocket w/ a 30,000 usd credit available.

I want to buy a compact for my wife, but getting mixed messages and unanswered questions and want those reward points, if possible.

A medium down payment and further mo/payments would look mighty good as rewards go...

1st car lot said, "ok," but...
then got turned down at their bank (near TungFon) today. No decent reason given...

Standard BS over the phone w/ other lots in the area.

Does anyone here have any experience buying a car (for their partner) in T-land in this manner?

I bought my PCX with my CC. The only problem was the dealer put a surcharge as a %age on CC use.

It is very very common for the plebes to feel it's safer to say no to anything that they are unused to, rather than going to the boss and asking. Kick up a bit of fuss so that the manager comes to deal with it. Keep asking why and point out it doesn't make sense. Money is money.
It may help if the car is purchased in your wife's name?

Not forgetting of course that the dealership boss has a credit card and uses it whenever he wants a guarantee on anything he buys... Just sayin.

Dealership has to pay 5% for using credit card?
Dealership loses commission on the finance?
    Etc..

Maybe they object for the same reason the OP won't withdraw the cash on his card and pay cash at the dealership? Again just sayin....

Because something seems a good idea doesn't always mean it is possible.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Do you get rewards for withdrawing cash? I think with my card withdrawing cash just means a higher interest rate that kicks in immediately rather than the one month grace and lower interest rate for purchases.

have you confirmed with chase that you'll get points for buying a car? i vaguely remember hearing something about this not being possible.

and yeah, you can guarantee that the dealership is going to take a nice fat percentage.....a bit to cover their costs to chase and a little bit more to pad their bottom line.

Lost with this one, so you buy a car with a credit card and pay a ton of fees, then you have to repay the credit card at ~ 40% charges annually?

^ i don't see how the monthly payments would make it cost effective either,.....but if you paid off the card straight away, you would rack up a lot of points which could offset the CC fee and make it worthwhile.
