For me there is, otherwise I wouldn't apply for them and the pink ID card is the main reason I do this application after having lived here for 20 years without needing it before.
The yellow house book saves me 500baht each time I need to have my address verified and is also the step stone to the pink ID card I must have together with the house book for getting a Bangkok Airways Koh Samui Residence Card which saves me 6000baht on every Samui-Bangkok return trip.

I can't understand the fascination of obtaining a Yellow Book and a Pink ID card. I obtained my Yellow book a few years back in order to obtain the foreigners free health care. Which was cancelled in the same year it was mistakenly introduced. Obtaining the Yellow Book was expensive and difficult to obtain at that time.
I then obtained a Pink ID card which negated the carrying of my passport. Unfortunately only to be told that the card can only be used within the Province to where it was issued. So basically both a waste of time and expense.

    Fascination?
From my side there is no fascination, if there had been one then I would have applied 20 years earlier.
I have stated clearly what the advantages are for me, what is it you don't understand humpty?

For me sometimes the pink card is useful, I have managed to board an internal TG flight with it but then other airlines don’t allow to use it, usually works at museums etc for the local entrance fees and for checking in at hotels. At Phatunwan district office it took about 1hr to get it done few years ago and so for that quick a process worth to do

I seem to have ruffled your feathers of which was not my intention. I was referring to people in general. I've had farangs asking me about the Yellow Book and I don't know why it seems to be on their 'must get list' upon staying here long term. I understand your circumstances for wanting one but in no way was I being critical of your reasons.

    Thanks for that info.

In my case the original tale I was told, by the local town office admin officer was , "You can be added in the blue house book". After a couple of months toing and froing, I was presented with the Yellow House and the pink foreigners ID card. Whose usefulness to me is rapidly shrinking.

One can't even use it as ID in 7/11's to pay bills, because it has no embedded sim chip, unlike Thai ID cards.

As that's what Thais associate it with. Burmese labourers.

Which did kind of take the wind out of me sails a bit.

Not old enough to be trusted with a lifetime card

It took almost week to get them.
After all paperwork was done the clerk told me that now it was only a matter of getting her boss approval but he would not like the application to be rushed through in one day. Not a money in envelope matter, it just had to take a bit more time than one day..
She called five days later and told me I could now pick up the yellow house book, the pink id card was then done immediately after I got the house book. The id card is valid until death.

    Show off.

I need to go back when I'm 2573 years old, unless I'm reading it wrong.

Not economically viable for them to offer as such.
    The bureaucracy requires it's fodder.

They forgot to charge me for the yellow book, I had expected 500-600baht, but I had to pay for the id card. I think it was 110 baht or something around there.

    Both were free for me.

I actually didn't realize I didn't pay anything until I reached the carpark after scaling down the wall from the upstairs restroom window.
