The thai are crazy about their uniforms, every man and his dog has one.

It reinforces the idea of patriotic thainess, love of "the group" and delineates their position in the pecking order, probably the most important aspect of uniform wearing. It also controls any aspect of a persons individuality from shining through.
    Hence Thai cultural mandate #10:

"Appropriate dress for Thai people consists of:

All depends on where one lives. If you go down Sa Kaeo way near to the National Parks that boarder Cambodia then you'll not be surprised to be living next door to someone who's a forestry policeman. As well as a side arm many also carry pump action shot guns. Used to scare the elephants out of farmland back into the reserves.
Yep heavily policed by both military and police there as I recently found out on my road trip from Lao to ko chang . After sa keow had passports checked at about 3 points before trat

Thahan Phran. They are Thai Rangers, wear all black, and often work with the Border Patrol Police.

if a new family moved into my neighborhood and the guy carried a gun in his waist band and wore an all black military style uniform, i'd be curious to know what his job was. and if he just moved in and was away for the majority of the month, when is the OP supposed to strike up this conversation?

luigi's obviously just having a good time trolling, and loy toy's being a cnut.

    same as it ever was.

^ Yes. Silly cnut and silly troll jerk.
As it turns out, Mrs Naam's sister-in-law's sister is married to one too. Met him at FiL's funeral a few months back. "Black Soldier". I think it may be the Thahan Phran Davis mentioned above, unless there's a Thahan Dam, because that was what he called himself to Mr's Naam's cop BiL when they were talking.

Reckon Thahan Dam just means 'black soldier', as the Thahan Phran are sometimes known due to the black uniforms. I lived/worked with these guys on the Cambodian border for 2 years 88-90, so am fairly sure I'm correct.
