Good day to all,
I have some questions regarding a long term visit in the Area (Pacific Asian Region).
I am a German Passport Holder and are living now for a bit over 30 years in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately, things have not developed to the better and the situation with our neighbors actually has placed the entire Island in Crisis mode.
Hence, I have made a final decision to seek out a new place to live. I would like to spend some time in some Countries and then make an educated decision (Thailand, Cambodia, New Zealand). I personally lean towards Buddhism, but that is by no means a determining factor. The main factor is Quality of life! I also very much so prefer to live in a warmer climate.
My plans are to arrive in Thailand by the end of this month for a long term stay.
I am extremely fit and healthy, 59 years of age, straight, long term divorced, financially independent. I do not consume alcohol, do not smoke and exercise for 3.5 hours every day (including 2 hours of strong walking). I love food with flavor.
I would like to stay at least 1 to 2 months in Thailand before seeing other Countries. In that time, I would really like to get to know the Country well.
Here are some questions I have in regards to my Trip. Please keep in mind, I have not done any air travel for the last 22 years…I assume a lot has changed.
>What is the Best site to book a Flight from Santo Domingo?
>Can I fly with only a one-way ticket, because I do not know when and if I will return?
>What, if any are the Visa Requirements?
>How much cash can I bring with me?
>I use around 20 harmless Supplements (Zink, Magnesium, Vitamin C and so forth). Am I allowed to bring them on the Flight in my main luggage?
>Can I bring a Pocket Knife with me in my main luggage?
>Is it possible for visitors to open a Bank account in Thailand?
>I would probably arrive in Bangkok and would stay at least initially in a Hotel with Pool and Gym.
Thank you so much for any input you could provide.
