    Today was a dog da.

It seemed like every dog on the planet was out today enjoying the warm sun, clear blue skies and fluffy snow.

Full body workout today, chewing a stick.

I won't let him in my car, I value the cream leather upholstery too much.

The video does remind me of my second dog "lucky" , I was turning a corner and as usual he was restrained in the back of my Volvo estate with his leed secured to the rear belt but the the window was down.
As all dogs like the fresh air in their nostrils.
It suddenly went quiet and I turned around after hitting a speed bump to find him missing.
I quickly pulled over only to find him hanging by the outside rear door wagging his tail with a sheepish look on his face.
    Silly pooch.

    Life expectancy

Each time I'm in NZ i visit a friend who has his third all-of-life German Shepherd, none have lived beyond 12 which I understand is about average.

This one, Patsy, 12 last September and was still going well when i saw them early 2022.

I know he'll be pleased to read this recent news, a classic 'dog bites man' story

New Plymouth, NZ 31 January 2023
The Independent Police Conduct Authority has found that a Police dog handler’s decision to command his dog to restrain two young people while arresting them for attempting to steal a car was a justified, necessary and proportionate response in the circumstances and the arrests were legally justified.

That pile of lumber on the right, what do you suppose lives in there ? Everything, toads, spiders, one small snake, and lots of centipedes. I killed 6 centipedes, two of them giants. I didn't dig any deeper in the pile than I had to. That black dog just joined them today.
Looking back at this post, two dogs from this post didn't make it. Sarge the little shepard looking dog had a bad leg, he died on the highway. Brown dogs gf, the big St. Bernard looking dog, she was so sweet, beautiful, thought it was all fun and games loved playing in the flood water. Just to the right in that pic. there is a bridge, the water was about 12 inches over the bridge, with a whirlpool on the up current side. I was 1/8 mile down the road knee deep in strong current, I had to take every step very carefully. I looked up and saw her going toward the bridge, all I could do was scream no no, I looked down to take my next step and when I looked up she was gone. Two weeks later riding over that bridge I could smell death. RIP honey.

Thanks, the stories I could tell. When I was on the gov. boat going to feed my pack, they lost control in the current and crashed into a tree, two men on front got thrown in the flood, they both had jackets, but being Thai and afraid of the water, one of them paniced and almost got carried away in the current, he was freaking out. I'm an old man sitting in the front, I turn around to look and twelve Thai people are white knuckled glued to their seats. I put my feet on the edge of the boat, reached over and grabbed that man, I snatched so hard I almost threw him in the boat. I took the boat everyday for, I think 3 weeks.

A few pics from this mornings ride. Winter weather in Thailand can be so perfect, beautiful sunny morning and 74 degrees, I take this ride every morning, 365 days a year. Will admit the morning the Bengals played the Chiefs, I sent the gf to feed them.

Brown dog after the flood. He spent about 9 weeks living on top on the bridge amongst to evacuees and traffic. Now happy and healthy back under the bridge where he belongs. The second pic is blury but you can tell...he thinks moms food is delicious.

This is my pack today, minus Sarge.

    Dogs-dscf2074-jpg

Far back on the left is Bau, she is the alpha female and leader, she led them through the flood. She is also the smallest dog, so not sure how long she can be leader. On the left front is Silly, she is so strong, she is obsessed with chasing pigeons. Thats what keeps her so strong. It is like their funnest thing to do, and why not. If you are a street dog and your belly is full, might as well chase pigeons. I'm sure they are so happy when they catch one. I've seen them come close enough to grab tail feathers, but haven't seen them catch one. In the center eating from the bag is Pooh, she is my baby. She stands and eats till full, and her sister will wait behing her. Always the same order gets to eat out of the bag.

This is Daam. He only joined the pack about 4 weeks ago. He went through absolute hell for 3 weeks before he was allowed to join. He is just a pup and they beat hell out of him everyday for 3 weeks before he was allowed to join. I'm glad he is with them, after Sarges death they didn't have a male. Before you ask...all my females have been spade.

    Dogs-dscf2100-jpg

Daam knows to wait his turn.

    Dogs-dscf2103-jpg

    Then there is Pooh.

Brother of my street dogs, Yuma, he lives with me.

The best dog I have ever owned. No matter what I'm doing, he is beside me, trying to help or just flop on my lap so I have to stop working.

Found this female yesterday. She is starving and trying to feed puppies.

    Dogs-dscf2112-jpg

Behind her is the flood plain. During the flood there was 8 or 9 feet of water right here. The dogs that survived, some of them were gone for 3 months and then found there way back here. Maybe they come back expecting to see me waiting with food.

Maggie growing fast. She has developed a close bond with Annie our Yellow Lab

Yesterday after a good hour of playing ball. Sandy Our golden is relentless about wanting to play ball. Wears my arm out throwing it all away across the back forty.

No fooker plays tennis anymore, another snobby wankstain sport like cricket, and rugby.

You can whack a tennis ball with a racket s good 40 yards with zero effort and knacker the dog out in record time.

Top tip JP , get onit like Hal down Cairo Old town with the Stellas

The dogs are mostly well-behaved. There are some members of the public who visit to whom the dogs seem to take an instant dislike, then those people complain and some time later the dogs will be poisoned. Everyone denies knowing who is responsible. This holiday weekend is a high risk time, let's hope they make it through to next year.

Just saw your post today, good job. I agree, street dogs are usually well behaved. There are always certain people that will set the dogs off, don't know why they just don't like some people. Spend time around street dogs and it's easy to see. When I first came here I noticed it so much, a certain person walk by and the street dogs go nuts. I asked the g/f about it. She said maybe those people are dog eaters, a dog can smell a dog eater. Sounds good to me. When people complain about being threatened by street dogs, I wonder is the pack aggressive or is it just you they don't like ?
BB mentioned chicken bones. If chicken bones killed dogs on a large scale, Thailand wouldn't have a street dog problem.. many , many live on only chicken bones and rice.
People that ask...why not get them spayed. Thats a joke. Who in their right mind trys to pick up an adult street dog and take it to the vet ? There are some lines you don't cross.

My yard dogs are happy, healthy and maybe a little bit fat, same as me. Then I leave the gate and see this female, I'm blessed with good health and plenty of food, how could I not share with her ? Most people look away from street dogs and don't want to think about it. Take a minute and think about her life, she is starving and watching her puppies die off because she can't feed them. I didn't see the den, most times you don't, but you can smell it, always smells like death. I'm thinking, the problem isn't too many street dogs, the problem is not enough caring people.

^ Re Chicken bones I was feeding my dogs chicken bones (leg and thigh) that had been deep fried and one night Bruno the Pitbull started crying and certainly was in pain. This lasted for about 2 days. I stopped feeding them bones and he improved but our soi dog Lucky never had a problem with the bones. I guess, and as Bruno's head and mouth is 3 times the size of Lucky's, Bruno cannot crush the bones small enough so as not to cut his stomach lining.

^ I think it's the actual digestion that just some dogs struggle with. It's in the genes. Some don't have such strong stomach acid

I once chewed half a pint glass and swallowed it for a bet back in my youth. Never did me any harm.
I also swallowed a penny and although it showed up on the xray, my mum never found it within a week of chopping up my stools.
And then one evening a wayward marble found its way up my sphincter in the bath at age 3. Oh hang on, no I did retrieve that

Annie with her favorite football and she hangs it out there like a big cigar.
