It's a dogs life..
It's a dogs life..
Never had two dogs who are as "joined at the hip" as these two.
Three of the dogs enjoying the early morning sun through a window.
^^Nice work Tunk
I am not the most doggerishly knowledgeable fellow but I know the arse end of a dog from its elbow.
A lovely Hindu lady from Fiji took me for a joy ride in her Prado today and I got the opportunity to explain the complexities of the mound-building sexual behaviour of the male bush turkey
We listened to some bangin Indian toonz. It was just like being in a restaurant.
No BBQ today. This was the dog barking 'close but no cigar mate' at me from the back window as the entourage departed.
This mother is the best. she will not eat until her pup is full. Other dogs come up and she goes to meet them, tell them stay away my baby is eating.
Just the oppisite here. I noticed early that their mother wouldn't share food with them and she left them early. I guess they were sucking the life out of her.
Brown dog and his gf, his gf is beautiful, she is not a street dog, belongs to local vendor. Usually she just wants me to play with her while brown dog is eating.
In the far back right hand of the picture you can see a large mound of dirt. They post a sentry there and when he sees me he cries out. Then they all start crying and start the long journey, crying all the way. When they get to the water there is a pile up and they stop there and all cry. Then one makes the swim and the rest follow....still crying.
On my morning route this morning, the flood waters are still rising and these pups are cut off. The water might be 2 feet higher than this picture. All seven were lined up on the bank way over by that mound looking at me to help and there was nothing I could do. Went to finish my route thinking tomorrow maybe they will be hungry enough to swim it. Couldn't stop thinking about it all day knowing those pups were hungry as fuck and knowing tomorrow the water will probably be higher. About 3 this afternoon I decided to try going through the bush and coming up behind them. It's like jungle, but the charcoal people have trails and are back there collecting wood. I got headed down a wrong trail and met up with a lone charcoal woman. She pointed me in the right direction. I soon found the pups, only 5, 2 are missing. There is a vicious red female around she might have killed them or even ate them. I'm sure if dogs are starving they will prey on puppies. Well they sure were happy to see me " dad dad you found us" On the way back I met up with a group of charcoal people. You should see their faces when they look up and see falang out in the bush, I felt like Sasquatch.
I live a stones throw from the Mun River at Ubonratchathani. The left side of the pic is my dog route, some of it very beautiful.
Some not so beautiful. People from the city load a pickup, drive 10 minutes out and dump. I've seen generations of dogs, born, live a short life and die, never leaving the trash pile.
In 2019 the river overflowed, we had devastating flooding. Slowly the river was rising and then it was like a wall of water, and it came in so fast. There was no warning, Thai people woke up standing in water grabbed their ass and got out. The first morning driving my daughter to school we go through this village, nobody even knew the flooding was happening yet, except the poor people that lived there. In the middle of the village, there was a river of flood water coming in, I went back in the evening and took this pic. By then the water in the center of the village was 3 or 4 feet deep.
Children think its fun. Their parents have no idea the amount of sewage mixed in that water.
I didn't sit high and dry watching on the news, I traveled around on my bike trying to help dogs. I know this man, his shack hangs on the edge of the river. He was very busy trying to find shelter and food, I decided to go check on his dogs. This little white pup was wedged in the tree very tight and exhausted, the water was rising so fast by evening he would have been dead.
I got the pups up on this bench, they were so exhausted, the next morning I brought some old pieces of wood and built a platform on the left, water still rising, the next day I put them on the roof of that shack and knew I couldn't go back, the water was too deep. Before I left I tried to help the father, he had stayed close. Took my time to talk to him and pet him, of course when I tried to pick him up he bit me. No hard feelings, the first time I met that dog I kicked him in the face for chasing my scooter, so he got the chance he bit me, now we are even and I still see that dog everyday.
Forgot to mention in my last post, 2 days after I last saw those three pups, Pattaya animal rescue showed up and started saving dogs, I heard from Thai that those pups were saved. The day after I took this pic the water was at the eaves and dogs on roofs.
I bring this up because we are close to seeing it again.
I had been wading around for 3 or 4 days when I met up with this man. The man on the left pulled this from the flood water. That was enough to stop me from ever wading in flood water again.
Holy cow! That snake would definitely make a feast of those puppies. I’m glad to hear the dregs are being cared for.
So today the gf is nagging and nagging me " What will you do if the flood comes?" Wouldn't leave it alone so I told her I was going to buy a fucking boat. Right away she put on her shit face. I said whats the problem, I don't see a problem with it. She said sounds like a stupid idea. Tell me what is stupid about it. We didn't discuss it anymore and I'm thinking, other than the BKK taxi and ferrys to the island, this woman has never been in a small boat. My earliest memories are playing in boats, my best friends parents owned a boat rental, my whole adult life I have canoed or kayaked. I live a stones throw from the Mun River, I should have a boat.
I sat down in my comfy chair with my music on eating some tortilla chips and drinking a beer and Judy jumps up and says
"Where is mine, come one. share will ya. So I gave her a handful and she laid down beside me and chomped away......."
A few minutes later her sister heard the commotion and promptly sat, stared drooled relentlessly.......I succumbed. Thank god they didn't want a beer..
Rain is coming....again.
Our Pug Bonnie sadly left us after 16 years and she will be missed.
an old sea dog?
Friend's shepherd Patsy is 13, he got her from the pound aged 5, malnourished and beaten.
Stayed with them again recently (NZ) and off to the nearby beach, her favourite place.
I went downstairs to investigate what Bruno was upset about and he had what looked like a small cobra, raised in its strike posture, cornered.
Of course I am worried he may get bitten but, after avoiding a few strikes, he had it it in his mouth shaking it violently and suspect there is no more threat.
