Soon after coming to Thailand I started feeding street dogs, I had never seen such suffering. Being a dog lover I do what I can to ease the suffering. This is what I donate everyday, 365 days a year. You have to set a limit and know you can't feed them all, street dogs come and go, sometimes more dogs sometimes less, but this is my limit. I spend just over 4 thousand a month on dog food. May sound like a lot to spend on dogs, but I'm sure some posters on here spend more than that a month on alcohol.I'm not a world traveling, jet setter, I don't spend on alchol, drugs or women, so I can spend 4 thousand a month on dogs. This is my morning route. Dogs-dscf1218-jpg

Inside the bag is divided into smaller bags. General pop, pups, brown dog, and a hot dog to get the female to take her meds.

This is my first stop, not a good pic, this dog is very hyper, never stands still. You can't fuck with mother nature, the laws of the jungle. The big and bad survive. This boy is about 2 years, so strong and full of energy, he rules. He lives out behind the village and the way the other dogs fear him he probably eates OK. I originally stopped here to feed pups, been feeding at this spot about a year. And this dog loves people, loves to be babied. He would be some families best friend.Dogs-dscf1219-jpg

My next stop, these dogs are not homeless. People dump dogs in front of this mans house because they know he is a good man and will not let them starve. His wife said they can't really afford to feed stray dogs, so I've been stopping here for about 3 years every morning to make a donation. If you could see the old dogs back right foot, a few weeks ago it looked like somebody attacked him with a machete. It was so big and so bad, but you could never pick this dog up and take him to the vet. I went and bought anti-biotic and give to the man. Three weeks later his foot looks better than I ever thought it could.Dogs-dscf1227-jpg

Dogs-dscf1229-1-jpgTwo black brothers, the boss rules with an iron fist, the smaller brother stays back, he lives it total fear of his stronger brother. When I pull up the boss stretches and wags his tail, but this dog is viscious with other dogs. There are 5 dogs down the side street that sometimes come out when they see me, but if this black dog is here they don't come near, also this black dog messed up this mornings photo shoot because he followed me for a half mile, he has learned that I will stop again and again. If dogs see this black demon they stay hid in the bush.

Truely wild dog, a pair of brothers that live at the trash pile, they where born here and the trash pile is all they know. I've been feeding them since they were old enough to come out of the bush. This is like the third generation that I know of that were born, grow up and die right here at the trash pile. Their mother died about two months ago and they act lost with out her, but they know they can survive off the trash. I doubt these dogs have ever known the touch of a human hand, two years feeding themDogs-dscf1233-1-jpg and this is as close as they get to me. The other brother is hiding because the black demon is coming.

There is also a Thai man feed this pack, that is where the collars came from. I have heard that to a Thai the collar means don't kill this dog, he has an owner. They eat Ok and live beside the Mun river, so they all play in the water when its hot. The red female is the boss, her name is Bau. She was dumped here at 6 or 7 weeks and I found her right away, she is vacinated and spayed. To give her a good life she will never have puppies. The grey dog is Ash, she is the mother of my puppies. She looked to be with in a few days of death when I found her. A skeliton with no hair, covered in scabs, my heart broke. Because of severe starvation, she was older than I thought and I didn't get her spayed in time. She had 11 pups. two are with me, two with her and the rest dead. I took her to the hospital to get spayed so it never happens again, they tested her blood and said she isn't healthy enough for surgery, so she has been on meds for 3 weeks trying to get her health up and I will try again. The puppy is Thing #2, my pups sister. If she can survive living beside the street, she has a pretty good life. spends the day playing with her mom and sister along the river. well this post is a mess but I'm almost done, one more stop.

Dogs-dscf1262-jpgDogs-dscf1261-jpgDogs-dscf1251-jpgBrown dog that lives under the bridge. He was dumped about 3 years ago, I took care of him then the big flood came and I thought he was lost. Four or five months later I was resting under the bridge and this big dog walked up to me, stood there stretching and wagging his tail like he knew me. Got home and told the gf and she said he does know you, the pup you used to feed. Since that day on I've been his best friend, he eats special. My dogs at home don't eat bones or very few, street dogs get all our bones and scraps. Brown dog loves me. I told the story awhile back about the homeless man wanting to talk to me, brown dog told him to fuck off away from my dad. As long as he gets enough food he has a good life living under the bridge. The Beethoven looking dog is Brown dogs gf. She doesn't look hungry, I think she has family. She just comes looking for a few delicious snacks. She has learned not to fuck with Brown dogs food and he lets her hang out because she is beautiful. The white Lab just came a few weeks ago. She was so scared and hungry. After a couple weeks she let me pet her, now she is full blown Lab and just loves to be petted, this girl was starved for affection. Labs are so sweet they weren't meant to be street dogs. I first saw Labs get popular in Thailand about 12 years ago, and they started showing up on the street shortly after that.

Tunk, I'm interested to know which biscuits you feed the dogs. The biscuits in your pictures look the same as I use for our street dogs... we feed around 15 every day. As you doubtless know, some biscuits offer a near complete diet while others are little better than sawdust.

Our vet advised these in the picture behind Yogi. I'm using the empty sacks to keep sacks of cement dry and these are the best pictures of our dog food sacks I can find at the moment while I'm away from home.

It may be of interest... for our street dogs we supplement the biscuits with rice and soup to bulk it out a bit. There's a couple of noodle soup vendors near us with whom we swap eggs (we keep chickens) for their left over soup at the end of every day. To be honest I think they'd do it without the eggs as I think they're just happy to help out. I find that a lot of Thais are happy to help out, so long as they don't actually have to make the effort themselves.

Yeah thats the same stuff I'm feeding, 700 baht a bag at the local store. I used to feed Pedigree until I compared content, this stuff is as good or maybe even better for 300 less a bag. When you meet up with a street dog living off scraps and garbage just by adding a couple handfulls of quality food to his diet makes one hell of a difference. Like the white Lab pictured above, 3 weeks ago that dog looked like a skeleton.

M'Sahib is ultra choosey about animal food for both the dogs and cats. She seems to have settled on this for the dogs for the last couple of years.

That dry stuff is all well and good.

I even know peeps that weigh it out and give their dog a set amount every day.

I saw one spoilt dog that was that hungry it was eating horse shite today.
My dog prefers the canned wet stuff, but as an owner that's a messy business when it comes to picking up the doda.

A compromise I've found is to mix the wet and dry and also our leftovers.

But jesus wept some of the Karen's in our village !!
    Shalom

    You feed him your leftovers?

You should get the Kurt Zouma treatment for that.

Nice PAG. I wish my dogs would get along with cats better. We have several cat graves scattered around the garden from past incidents.

A few topical dogs pics (corgis)...

They are very cute funny looking dogs that remind me of Basil Brush.

Very hard to get all the pets looking at the camera at the same time, great pic PAG.

Bonnie came from the pound and she was the best retriever back in the days that I used to hunt. When she was just a pup, I took her out for a walk and she almost caught a woodcock I shot in mid-air. She had a gentle soul and a gentle mouth and would drop game at my feet with a wink. Tears me up just thinking about the times we
    had.

When I opened the front gate today there was blood on the driveway and when I looked up here was Bruno with a snake in his mouth shaking it violently.

I have no problems with him doing what he was bred to do but I hate him killing cats.

Just today i was clearing a plot of land and I was visited by a few quite friendly cats who seemed domesticated.

This is the new home for Bruno and although the land perimeter is walled I will have to speak to the neighbours about retaining their pets.
