This is the male, he was the runt of the litter. When I met them there were 9, 8 girls and this one boy. I knew one or more died in the den because I could smell it for 2 weeks, and a local man told me she had eleven. Today I took the mother to the hospital to be spayed. When I met them there were 9 now its down to 5. That leaves 4 females, when they are old enough I'll have them done. I understand very well the street dog problem here, for this pack I will be responsible and try to stop the spread here.

Check out this pic taken today!

My mut has only met this West Highland Terrier once before on the lead, but today they hit it off and had a good play and sniff.

Note the Rodney's back feet are missing and replaced with titanium ones instead, he was born that way.
    But boy can he run...

Met a Bosnian Moody in heat today, what a name for a breed of dog, is it even a recognised breed?

    Dogs-20220429_220107-jpg

Yep, we can safely say that's your stick!

6:30 am, been raining all night. Heavy rain off and on with high wind, 65 degrees and I'm off to feed my street dogs. Two years ago last February was the last time I missed a day feeding street dogs. Because back then I used to make border runs and sometimes miss a day. Cold and wet doesn't even figure into it, I go. Cold and wet just means you really need a meal in your belly. A morning like this morning, only about half as many dogs, but the ones you do have are starving, you don't go out and wander in that weather unless you are starving. And what a gift to give them, a full belly so they can go find a dry place to get warm and sleep.

After their last walk of the day, their vet beds are put on the floor. These two then normally adopt the 'spoon' position.

Five days living with me. Vaccinated, wormed, flea and tick bath and two square meals a day. They are very happy.

As I checked in for my flight out of Suvarnahbumi on Monday night I couldn't help notice these two basenjis joining me to Qatar. They were checked through to Helsinki with their rather stylish owner who was presumably Finnish.

We used to keep basenjis when I was growing up and I have a real soft soft for them. They're fascinating dogs and the only dog that can't bark. These two impeccably behaved basenjis patiently waited to be checked in before going into their crate. I've often wondered how my seven mutts would behave at an airport if ever I finally decide to go back to the UK. I think I would have probably lost at least three of them before check-in... it would be absolute mayhem.

I'd need seven individual crates for a start... and if I tried to get Yogi into one he would probably take my hand off... and he would have already tried to shag the girl basenji by the time we reached the check-in desk.

Dogs can catch Covid. Do they need a test before flying?

Dogs-dscf1210-jpgThree weeks ago today I brought these two in off the street. I've not regretted it for even a minute. They are wonderful puppies, well behaved and quick learners.

In other dogs news, this beautiful princess was diagnosed with stage #2 kidney disease. She is 6 years old and in the prime of her life. Kidney disease is a death sentence. We love her so much, and she has had a very good life with me.

    Indeed.

They might get invited in for dinner.

Flea and tic control, I've tried many different ones. Have 7 dogs so do consider the cost. I don't know if they have the collar here, but I don't like the collar. . My dogs have never worn a collar, they don't even wear shirts, they just wander around naked all the time, hard core, only one generation away from street dog. The powder is cheap and works very good, only 50 baht for a 150 grams, but who wants their dog stinking like poison powder. I have a lot of contact with my dogs and don't like smelling that powder on them. The liquid you drip on the back of their neck, 100 baht per dog. I've tried maybe 3 different brands. What I don't like about it is, maybe 4 or 5 days later you have healthy ticks just inches from where you dribbled the liquid. This time I fed my pups the tablet, 450 baht for 1 pup [ she tells me 250 baht for an adult] Within 24 hours I see a pup shit worms and almost all ticks I find are dead. Maybe it makes them a little sick to their stomach for a day, it must be powerful shit. Well I will try it on my adults now. If it works that good on adults I will stick to it. The liquid I use so many and never get rid of them all.

I used to find those bastard tics around the house. We now use the tablets and rarely have a tic problem now. We have small dogs, I think it was Mendip who suggested it was more economical to buy the biggest size and cut it down? The next problem is getting it into the dogs, one of ours is very difficult.

Yes shutree, I buy Bravecto tablets on Lazada. I also have 7 dogs and find that buying the biggest size tablets (for dogs up to 60kg from memory) and cutting them into thirds saves a lot.

These tablets completely rid usj of ticks and fleas. I think we administer them every 3 months.

That is what I do now. Our smallest weighs in at 2Kg so we need a sharp knife.
