All our dogs are house dogs, all walked a minimum of 4 times a day, and always on a lead. Our cats rule the house though, doesn't matter how big the dog is, they're treated with equal disdain.

You should rename them Semper and Vigilis.

At least they are on the floor. The gf's dogs are sleeping on the sofa after a tiring bark at the gate this morning.

My black coonhound. He's a retired hunting dog. The hunters said he just wanted to sit in the truck like a lazy fuck. So he was replaced.

Bruno, my pit-bull mix, is a hand full to say the least.

Every morning I take him for a walk and he is slowly settling down and not wanting to kill every other dog we come across.

When we entered the Mooban today he became particularly agitated with a pile of building materials and I allowed him to sniff around it.

All of a sudden he dived into it and come out with a Soi dog in his mouth shaking it violently.

It took every ounce of my strength to hang on to the leash and I finally managed to pull him off this poor dog who then limped away but still alive.

It was a reminder to me how strong and vicious this breed of dog is.

I warn any person interested in having one of these dogs to be very careful as they are bred to kill and they can change moods in a second.

LT, you've made him what he is. They are not bred to kill, they are just powerful dogs and their typical nature is to protect. I have two, and their environment is with 4 cats and 2 other dogs. Their typical behaviour is friendly and boisterous. I'm guessing your's is an outside dog, probably on a chain, which will make him naturally protective. Sad mate, an often quoted saying, 'it's not the dog, it's the owner'.

IMO they don't have a place in this world, they aren't compatible with being in society. Sorry Loy but there it is, i'd shoot the fooking thing if it bit anything.

^ Bruno basically is great with the immediate family and my other 3 dogs but you can never drop your guard.

Not my choice of a dog but I adopted him from a mate who was too sick to take proper care of him.

Mostly I am happy with him but sometimes I wish I had not taken him on.

My plan is to take him to our other piece of land along with the female soi dog we also adopted.

It is a secure plot with a garage for them to sleep in and I will still take him for walks every day.

    That seems a bit odd.

He's a hound you find unsettling and so... you're teaming him up with a bitch.

On land well away from your house.

Yeah, that's a characteristically oddball move.

I wish I had him from a pup mate but only got him when he was 7 months old. How he was treated before I got him I have no idea.

Normally he is very well behaved with the family, particularly with me, but I can never drop my guard.

I have spoken to the owner of the pure bred pit bull mother and he said she was as an aggressive dog.

PAG, Bruno rules the roost here, has never been chained up and only when guests come he is put in a gated area which is over half a Rai of land.

He just seems to have a savage streak with no amount of loving and care will get out of him.

And although he is not allowed in the house he has his area on the covered, tiled verandah he sleeps in.

Its difficult unless you've had them since a puppy.
Ours was a rescue at a similar age.
Very protective and has a vicious streak also, but only when it comes to certain other dogs.
Yet my children can do anything to him and he takes it all in his stride.
    Shalom

^ Yes it is very frustrating mate as I love the mut but being such a big dog with incredible strength I must remain careful all the time.

Our dog doesn't know the strength of her own teeth either, but she is as kind as ever and ignores other dogs completely. Dogs-dscn0505-jpg

Yeah but what are they like with dogs they don't know?

Sutely you too can't let them off the leash in the park or run free on the beach and would have the same outcome as Loy Toy if a soi dog ventured onto your land?

When we got ours from Manchester dogs home several years ago, I would say that 90% of the strays in there were Pit Bull/X drug dealer dogs.
That's why they get a bad reputation and all the media frenzy when children are mauled to death by them.

There's an old saying, "there's no bad dogs, just bad owners".
Having said that , I wouldn't have one in my house and around children.

My dog was attacked by a Pit Bull running free on our local field the first week we had got him. Got a scar around his neck.
He didn't forget, the next time he saw that Pit Bull again he savaged it! The owner who looked like a pit bull then started mouthing off at me and trying to hit my dog with a chain lead so kicked his dog up the arse and told him to control his beast as it had history with many dogs in the area.

The cvnt still wouldn't shut up shouting at me, so I had to walk away as my youngest was with me and crying.
I still see the reprobate in the pub giving me evils with his Stone Island jumpers on.
Guess what, his son is selling weed on that park to kids now.

^^ I have a relatively quite soi running parallel to our property about 2 kms long with the entrance to our Mooban being the only gated area on one side with the motorway on the opposite side of the soi. I walk Bruno to each end of the soi but never past the end which makes the soi Bruno's territory.

There are always packs of soi dogs at each end of the soi that run up barking when we reach the end and Bruno generally ignores them unless they enter the soi.

He is only doing what he is bred to do and that is to defend and if threatened attack.

^ If I had small children I could never have Bruno as he is also extremely jealous.

As we plan to open the bar soon Bruno will have to be relocated to our other property along with the other dogs.

This little brother and sister just won the lottery today, they were adopted by me. I have taken care of them from the day they crawled out of the den. A while back I posted pics of the sick street pups I was caring for, this is 2 of them. They lived in a very dangerous area right on a curve, the mother had eleven pups. There are 5 left. I can not save all the dogs but do what I can. These two are going from a hard life on the street to living with me and I take very good care of my dogs. They will never again know cold, fear, or hunger.

sorry i got a bit excited, a friends 6 year old daughter got badly bitten on the face by pitbull/bulldog/cross whatever and had to have 4 operations and she'll always carry the scares. Well done for taking it on but imo the "Breed" is just too unpredictable, buried in their genes is always a possibility it'll have a moment and that can mean tragedy.

Just brought them home yesterday, they love it. When this little female found the dog cushion, she did 2 circles and flopped down. OMG where has this thing been all my life ? The little boy was at the end of the food chain, he only ate when everybody else decide to let him. His energy and strength are improving so fast just having quality food twice a day. Like I have said before if you take a dog off the street it is almost like they understand what you have done for them. They are so well behaved.

^ Isn't it great to give them a home, off the street, and a chance in life.

This is how I ended up with seven...
