Well enough, yes. If it's a very technical story, I might struggle with vocabulary a little and some vox pop can be a bit of a horror but understanding the news in a foreign language is generally not that big a deal; pronunciation is usually fairly precise and the language is almost always a standard variety so listening to/watching the news is usually fairly straightforward for anyone at a solid intermediate level or above.
